I know where it is

Hey guys! Guess who is back?! Nah, it's no one exciting...it's just me. You probably haven't noticed, but these past few weeks I've been going through this series and editing all the chapters. Along the way, I've really gained the inspiration to start writing this again, especially since Derek Landy has done the fandom so dirty in the new books. I know that it's been ages, and I've promised to update before without actually following through, but this time I mean it. It might take me a while to get back into the groove of things, but I think that as an author and as a person I've really developed since the last time I wrote for this story. I'm in the last few months of my final year of school and a lot of my life has been falling apart around me, so my updates will most likely not be frequent or regular, but if any of you would like to rejoin this journey with me I would really appreciate it. This book brought me so much joy and reading all your comments made me so happy. I really miss this community that we had going here, and I really miss all my regular readers, like Aria-Shadespacefanatic13, Genji-Sparrows, Celeste_Anala, Rebecj, LamborghiniQueenie, Endlightblitz25 and so many more! So I hope you guys can forgive me for everything...I'm really sorry. But here we go...

Azealia was beginning to feel exhaustion weigh her body down like a tonne of bricks. Her swings were becoming sloppy and her breaths were growing ragged. Looking around her, she realised that Mevolant's army - despite the death of one of their leaders - was pushing forward. More and more bodies littered the battleground, which reeked of magic, smoke and gore. The dragon squad was still flying high above, but Azaelia could tell her friends were growing weary. Nothing all that interesting had happened for a while. The constant clang of metallic blades and blasts of power had composed their own symphony, but this song had gone on too long. The troops needed a break, unlike the possessed soldiers they fought against. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't as if they had masses of replacements to substitute for a while, until everyone else could regain their strength.

That was until a loud blare of trumpets sounded like an intercom system over the screams of death and grunts of battle. Azealia shoved her sword through an enemy soldier and let Accalia take charge as she glanced up to the wall where a dark-haired young girl holding the offending brass instrument and heavily scarred boxer stood. Vivi and Ghastly. Azaelea could barely make out her sister's cold grin spreading as a portal opened up at the bottom of the wall at the back of the battlefield. Inside the portal seemed to be a dark, abandoned warehouse and standing uniformly in rows were hundreds upon hundreds of dolls. Dolls of all shapes and sizes, but all with some creepy ailment and dark eyes that sent chills rippling across Azaelia's flesh.

The army of possessed dolls marched onto the blood-stained grass and joined the war. Immediately the tide seemed to shift as dolls latched themselves onto the host bodies of the opposing side and brutally tore them apart. It didn't matter what damage was dealt in return, as the dolls just kept pressing forward. Azaelea even spotted a lone hand clawing across the carnage, seeking it's next victim. It wasn't long before the frontlines migrated further away from the wall and the Unnamed's forces were not only being kept at bay, but were being driven back. With a newfound burst of energy, Azaelea charged forward, blade and magic slicing through bodies like cheap hollow men. After circling the battle field once she retreated to the wall and waved her arms up to catch Logan's attention. When she finally caught his eye he said something to the man next to him. In the blink of an eye, that man was now beside Azaelia and in another blink they were both back up at the top of the battlements.

"Thanks," she breathed heavily. "I didn't know that there were other teleporters, apart from Fletcher."

"Yeah, he was my mentor. The name's Genji Sparrow." he grinned and she nodded back politely before addressing Logan.

"Are Valkyrie and Skulduggery back from Cassandra's yet?" she questioned, brows furrowed. She hadn't seen her sister or the skeleton detective at all since they had left.

"I wouldn't know, bub. But I haven't seen 'em. If I were you, I'd go get that cut looked at." he pointed his smoking cigar down at her thigh.

She followed his gesture to see a long gash in her leg, bright blood trickling down. "I didn't even notice."

"It must be the adrenaline." Genji commented. "I've never felt more alive."

"You should help take a few of our soldiers off the field for some medical attention and rest. It doesn't help anyone if they slip up from exhaustion and die." she told him. "Logan, you should call Dexter, Saracen, Aria, Ophelia, Cian and Sapphire down for a break too. I can tell they need to rest and we can finally afford to take some of our army off the field with Vivi's dolls out there."

"Copy that." he saluted her and she smiled in appreciation before taking off further across the wall towards the stairs leading to the Sanctuary.

On her way she registered a flash of golden curls and mop of unruly chestnut hair. Jogging up to them with Accalia following loyally behind her, she realised they were speaking to Evania Zerea.

"Hey guys, what's going on?" she asked and took in the scene in front of her. Evania seemed to be in some sort of trance and she clutched to the handle of Ellion's god-killer dagger.

"Evania is tracking the power signal of the god-killer dagger to try and pin-point the location of the lost Sceptre of the Ancients that Valkyrie shunted over from Mevolant's dimension years ago." Ellion explained and his dark eyes scanned every inch of her body, searching for damage. When they found the injury on her leg and frowned at her in worry.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. It's not deep." she shook her head to dismiss his protectiveness. "How did it go with Arthur Dagan?"

"We easily apprehended the stolen Unicorn plushie and we may have just so happened to accidentally kill the thief in the process..." Tanith said slyly.

"Right. Accidentally." Azalea winked. "Well, if you two want my help, I'll be in the medical wing. Someone there should know something about where Skulduggery and Valkyrie are."

"Okay, make sure you get your leg looked at and have some rest while you're at it." Ellion almost pleaded with her and her heart melted.

"Of course. Be careful. Love you." she reached onto her tip-toes and pecked his cheek, moving past him. His long fingers slipped around her wrist and tugged her back to him with expert ease.

"You call that a proper goodbye kiss?" he teased and leaned down to nudge her nose with his own, lips grazing hers. Just as she pushed forward, expecting them to connect, he pulled back and laughed. She glared at him, threading her hand in his hair and tugging his face down to meet her own.

"Ugh, get a room, you two." Tanith forced a humorous gag and her nephew rolled his eyes.

"Way to ruin the moment, Aunt Tan."

Just as Azaelia left the duo to themselves Evania's eyes opened with a gasp. "I know where it is."
