How hard can it be?

The lights flickered and buzzed loudly as they turned on, coming awake after being inactive for what seemed like decades, going by the thick layer of dust over everything. It was the seventh light switch Ghastly Bespoke had tried in this abandoned factory, and the only one to work. The dull, mossy green glow illuminated the machines that had apparently been stopped halfway through making dolls. There were terrifying dolls in varying stages of production strewn all over the place. There were too many of them to count. Ghastly stood back and looked over to Vivi expectantly. He didn't know what he thought she'd do to bring them to life. Maybe say some spells, wave her hands around, do some chanting. But she didn't. What she did was infinitely creepier.

Vivi's eyes clouded over until they were completely white, and she raised her head to the cobwebbed ceiling, stepping forward. Her boots splashed in the puddles formed by leaky, broken radiators and ceiling ducts. The lights flickered as thousands of overlapping whispers fille the stagnant air and when they turned back on the dolls that were scattered around the large warehouse were lined up in a strict army formation in front of them, all with glowing eyes. Goosebumps rippled up Ghastly's strong arms and his ears popped as he felt the evil fill the room.

"Vivi, what exactly is bringing these dolls to life?" he asked her, wary of her answer.

"Oh, the dolls aren't alive. They're just possessed." She shrugged when she reverted to her normal self.

"And what's possessing them?"

"I can summon the evil creepy god-children because I'm related to them, but they have to do what I say because I summoned them and I'm the kinswoman of their leader." She explained.

"Are you meaning to tell me that in these dolls are Faceless Ones that are acting as your puppets?" he questioned.

"Yup, pretty much." She nodded vigorously.

"Do you realize what this means? We can change everything. We need to get back to Roarhaven, now." He said and Vivi opened up a portal. The two stepped back as the army marched through onto the battlefield to join the fight and even the odds.

"There is one more thing I need the two of you to do before you join the battle," China said to Tanith and Ellion. "I've just spoken with Stephanie – the evolved reflection – and she has informed me that her sceptre is the original from our dimension and Alice traveled back to when it was first destroyed at Aranmore farm, letting everyone believe it had been. She prevented it from being demolished at the hands of the Faceless Ones and instead brought it back, as not to alter our timeline. This means that the sceptre from Mevolant's dimension that Darquesse threw away is still lost somewhere. We need to get it back if we want a better chance at defeating all these Faceless Ones."

"Weapons of that massive power scale can be easily tracked by a psychic, especially a superpowered one like Evania Zerea." Ellion suggested. "If we can get a God-killer weapon to Evania and she can track the similar signal to a location, we can pinpoint the whereabouts of the sceptre and retrieve it. My dagger or Tanith's sword will do well enough."

"As far as plans go, Mr Rune, that seems like a very good one." China nodded in approval.

"The only problem is, how are we going to get the sceptre back from wherever it is. Someone might have found it and taken it, and if not, it must be very well hidden." Tanith sighed.

"How hard can it be?" Ellion shrugged.
