Ellion tapped away at the keyboard in the security room. They'd granted Tanith and himself access to track down Arthur Dagan before he got away with the Unicorn gun.
"There!" His aunt pointed out from over his shoulder. "He's in the dungeons."
"I can close up the staircases leading to the other level, so we keep him in the dungeons. It's a bunch of winding tunnels down there, there's no way he can get out." He brought up the video from the security camera they'd caught the old, overweight man on. He tapped at the keyboard a few more times and closed the exits, opening alarms up in the dungeons. "There are sensors down there, when he walks passed it'll set off the sensors and the alarms will go off for about a minute. We can follow him."
"So, we have him?" she asked.
"We have him." He confirmed with a nod.
The duo clutched their swords close as they silently crept through the tunnels, ears out for the alarm. Their god-killer weapons were strapped to their becks, ready to be used in a worst-case scenario. Arthur Dagan was to be captured, not killed. If Hansard still cared bout his father, maybe they could use him.
"Do you hear that?" Tanith asked, tilting her head to the side. Ellion listened, and surely enough he heard the faint echo of a siren.
"This way." He nodded.
They stalked after him, like a lion hiding in the grass before it pounced onto its prey. After following the sound of alarms, they'd come very close. They reached the screeching alarm and glanced around them for any sign of movement. A shadow flickered onto the wall and they whirled back to back. Tanith did not cry out as Arthur Dagan came at her. Instead, she brought her sword up and sliced at him. To avoid the blade, he staggered around her and they turned and came apart, so Elion was also facing him. Elion noted the crazed, hungry and manic glint in Dagan's eyes and knew immediately what had happened.
"He's used the gun on himself!" he barely had time to shout the warning before Arthur Dagan exploded into action. A wave of fire rushed at Tanith and she flipped into the roof and dropped down behind him. Dagan spun to meet her and while his back was turned Ellion tried to hit the back of his head with the hilt of his sword, but Dagan pushed at the air and Ellion flew back into the wall. Tanith jumped and planted a kick against the obese man's jelly-like chest and he grunted slightly, stumbling back.
"Tanith, there is no way we can take him quietly. I'm sorry but I have to do this." Ellion yelled out as he dropped his sword and camouflaged the atoms around him to obscure himself from human vision. He drew the dagger from the sheath at his back and approached the wild man. Just as Dagan lifted his arms send another wave of flames at Tanith, Ellion stabbed him.
Dagan froze right where he was and sank to the ground. The poison in the dagger worked it's way through his system quickly and his body seized before growing still and he was dead.
"China ordered us not to kill him." Tanith stated as she looked down upon his body.
"I know."
"You went against strict orders from the Grand Mage," Tanith said.
"I know."
"You've never made me prouder." Tanith grinned at him and he laughed, despite the war going on around them.
"Come on, let's get this Unicorn gun back where it belongs." He took the plushie-weapon from the ground.
"Well, that went well. I wonder if everyone else is having the same luck." The blonde swordswoman picked up Ellion's sword and handed it to him.
