As everyone split off in their separate ways Dexter hung back to talk to Valkyrie before she left. "Hey Val, just, look out for anyone coming after you out there, yeah?" he said awkwardly. Since when was Dexter Vex ever awkward?
"Yeah, and you...don't fall off that dragon, okay?" she nodded back.
"Yeah, I won't." he said.
"Okay. Well, I'll see you around later, hopefully." Valkyrie turned away from him and walked over to Skulduggery who just gave her a look. "Shut up."
"You should have kissed your boyfriend." he hummed.
"He's not my boyfriend. He made that pretty clear when he chose to ignore me and lie to me about his long-lost psychopathic wife and mess with my head when he knew he would choose her." Valkyrie spat bitterly.
"If you come back here to find that he's been killed, will you regret not kissing him?" Skulduggery replied nonchalantly.
Her silence was answer enough.
"You should have kissed your boyfriend." He shrugged.
"Weren't you the one who tried to deter me from him in the first place? You know, the whole overprotective father figure?" she shot back.
"Overprotective fathers are always trying to get their daughters to break up with their future son-in-law's in the beginning." He pointed out good-naturedly and she huffed.
"Look, when he wants to come clean and apologize and tell me straight outwrite what is going on in his head, then maybe I'll consider forgiving him and moving past this. But until then, we're in a war, Pleasant. Get your head in the game."

"Alice!" Ellion called after Azealia down the sanctuary corridor. "I mean, Azealia. That's gonna take some getting used to."
"Ellion, hey." She smiled and turned to face him.
"I just, I really wanted to talk to you. I've missed you like crazy and thinking that you might have been faking everything we had killed me. I just need to tell you how much you mean to me. You are my everything. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you during all this. I don't even want to think about it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry and I ... I love you. Alice Edgley. Azealia Raven. I don't care. I love you." He stepped closer to her and entwined her hands in his.
"I love you too, Ellion. I really do, and seeing you believe otherwise tore me apart. I never want to feel like that again and I never want to see you feel like that again." She breathed and stepped closer, looking at her feet.
She felt his left hand leave hers and in a second his fingers were warm on her chin, gently lifting her face up to meet his as he kissed her softly. She wrapped the arm he'd let go of around his neck and pulled him closer to deepen the kiss, never wanting to be apart again as the warmth of his love filled her up and shattered the ice she'd been consumed in while pretending to be with Hansard. All that horrendous hand-holding and caressing she'd endured seemed worth it now that she was in Ellion's arms again. But all good things have to come to an end, and they had to pull apart.
"I have to go." She whispered.
"I know." He places a soft kiss on her forehead and pulled away completely. "Be careful."
"You too." She nodded and hurried after Tipstaff. As she jogged she turned the corner and ran into a woman with brown hair and blue eyes. A scar ran over her right eye and she was ready to fight, decked out in jeans, boots, a grey graphic shirt, and a grey trench coat. "Oops, sorry." Azealia cringed at her clumsiness.
"Oh hi, it's Alice, right? I'm looking for Tanith Low, have you seen her? She's got the only key to the swords room and I need to get in there. Mevolant's not just going to kill himself, you know." The woman said. She was clearly in a rush.
"Oh, it's Azealia Raven now, actually. But Tanith is on her way out. She needs to do a few things for Grand Mage Sorrows. If you give me a minute I can help you get in, though. I just have to pick something up first." She offered politely.
"Thanks, but we better hurry. It's hell out there." She huffed in her faded Irish accent and followed Alice towards the sound of growls. "My name is Eclipse Dawn, by the way."
