Tanith Low rubbed her fingers over her empty scabbard, missing the safety of her sword. But even more, she missed the warmth of Ghastly. She'd lost him once and it was something she'd never want to go through again. But could this be the end for them all this time? No one to bring them back. No more of anything? It was hard to tell exactly what was going to happen to them but all possible scenarios ended in death. Tanith got up and began pacing. She was never quite patient and the memories raging through her were enough to spike her agitated jitters.

"Miss Low, why don't you put that away and save some damage. I guarantee you if you fight it will not end well for you." He laughed but when she refused to alter her stance he gestured towards Doran beside him.

The boy smiled with sick satisfaction, cracking his knuckles. Tanith bent her knees, preparing for a physical assault. The energy beams that he let loose from his eyes, mouth, and hands took her by surprise and she stepped back into Ghastly as the orange power flowed over her. She glanced gratefully towards Alice who had her arms outstretched forming a shield to protect her.

"There's no question here as to who is going to win. Resistance is futile." Hansard laughed.

"Skulduggery, what do we do?" Tanith had heard Valkyrie whisper to her mentor. Her partner.

"I'm still working on it." He said back.

"We can take them. Just get Ellion to sneak Alice down the tunnel to destroy it. That way they have nothing to fight for and it won't matter if we win or lose." Valkyrie suggested.

"What are you two whispering about? Don't try anything funny. No one moves. Now you're all going to do exactly what I say, or Sean will fill this cavern with gas and you'll all fall asleep with nothing to stop us from killing you all one by one."

They looked to each other, praying someone would have some sort of a plan but there was nothing they could do. They were so close.

"Kitana, bring me the Rune boy." Hansard gestured to him and Kitana pulled out two Chinese ring daggers and twirled them in her hand, strutting over to him.

"If you lay one finger on him, I swear I'll blow you all up!" Alice screeched and stepped towards her boyfriend.

"Ooh, it looks like someone took their little assignment a bit too seriously." Kitana chuckled. "You don't actually believe you're one of them, do you?"

"What? What assignment. Alice, what is she talking about?" Ellion spat out with no pause between his words as he searched her guilty face.

Tanith picked at her nails, remembering the moment she saw her nephew's heart break. Now they were all stuck, awaiting their death sentences to be carried out.
