Chapter 3: The infection

Liv's POV
"Brianna find anything," I say as I go through a drawer.
"No," she says as she slams the drawer shut.
"This is bullshit I'm gonna leave," I say as I walk out of the room. As we pass the teachers lounge I see Jc and Grover in there and they look at us.
"Where are you guys going?" Jc asks. We look back at him and sprint to the door. Grover and Jc start chasing after us. Jc almost grabs my shirt but I turn a corner but then I run right into Adam.
"Babe are you ok, I'm so sorry?" he asks helping me back up. I turn around and see Jc turn the corner.
"Yea everything's just peachy," I reply as I start to run again.
"Don't let her go Adam," Jc yells. Adam grabs me and holds on tight. I see Brianna sneaking to the other exit before yelling run. After I can't see Brianna anymore I kick Adam in the nuts and head butt Jc before I continue to run. I see Grover grab Brianna as I run past them Jc cut corners and right as I turn the lock he tackles me.
"Get off of me," I demand pushing him off.
"Fine, I won't leave," I give up.
"Why did you want to?" Jc asks.
"Because Arian is alone right now and I don't know if she's ok," I explain. Jc walks over me trying to hug me but I push him away. Brianna throws Grover's hands off of her and walks away with me.
"I need to go to the bathroom to look at my head," I tell her.
"Ok I need to go anyway," Brianna replies. Once we get into the bathroom I pull my hair back and see a bruise.
"Oh jeez that looks way worse then I thought it did," I say to myself.
"What does?" Brianna asks as she flushes the toilet.
"I had to head butt your brother to get to the door," I explain.
"I don't know if you saw but you weren't the only one who got tackled," she says.
"Lets go to my locker and grab my bag so I can help your cut," she adds.
"What, it's bleeding," I say looking in the mirror again.

As we walk to the door of the science wing which is the area where her locker is, Jc walks over.
"Where are you guys going?" he asks.
"To Brianna's locker," I reply.
"Your head hurts to," he says as he rubs his forehead.
"Yea you have a brick head," I chuckle.
"Shit, Liv we can't go to my locker or the nurses office, the smoke is out there," Brianna explains. All the sudden Natalie runs into our hallway.
"Guys, Lyle's here and he's sick," she says. We walk into the fallout shelter where they have him laying down. He's all sweaty and kind of red, his eyes are open, he's not speaking and he doesn't have a fever but has a really fast heart beat. Diesel comes running in.
"Is he ok?" Diesel asks.
"I don't know," Violet answers.
"Who found him," he asks?
"Grover did. Grover did he say anything to you?" Violet asks. He shakes his head no but we could all tell he was lying.
"He did, what did he say?" Violet asks.
"Yeah, what'd he say Grover," Diesel exclaims as he walks over to Grover. Diesel really doesn't like Grover, at all.
"Well yeah, he said something but I couldn't understand him," Grover replies unsure. I just leave the room and go to sleep.

Brianna's POV
I walk up to Grover and turn him around, I can tell he's lying.
"Grover what did he say, you can tell me?" I ask.
"I just don't want to freak everybody out," he replies.
"Trust me, I'm not that type," I tell him.
"He said everybody's dead," he states. After Grover told me that I kind of do feel freaked out because now I'm thinking about what happened to Kc, Jackie, and Arian. I go upstairs to go to sleep when I see a whole bunch of other "sick" people. After I found where everybody is coming from (the door Liv forgot to lock when she almost got out) I lock it. The coach told everybody to go upstairs to sleep and leave him downstairs with all the sick kids. I sit on the couch in the teachers lounge that's next to the one Liv is sleeping on. After I lay down and get comfy, Grover walks in the room.
"Hey, sorry about what happened earlier and also about Kc and them, mind if I sit?" He asks.
"No go ahead and it's ok, I now realize you did the right thing," I reply.
"I'm going to try and sleep now night," I add.
"Goodnight," he goodbyes.

Sunday morning

I wake up to a lot of noise and the smell of Liv's famous scrambled eggs.
"Morning sleepy head," Liv tells me.
"How did you make these?" I ask.
"The cafeteria still has food," she replies. After I ate I got up and put my hair in a messy bun. As Liv and I are walking down to the cafeteria Grover walks up to us.
"Hey we are all having a talk in the cafeteria, can you meet me in there in a sec?" he asks.
"Sure," I reply.

Zoe's POV
As I walk out of the bathroom Lashawn is waiting outside.
"Hey baby, what's up?" I ask.
"I just want to hang out with you make sure you're ok," he tells me.
"Of course I'm fine, you're so sweet, but I am really worried about my little brothers," I say. He turns me towards his face and kisses me and we start to make out. Eventually I stop and pull him into the copy room. Out of no where the janitor comes running out out all crazy looking like he's a zombie and tried to kill Lashawn. He pushes me out of the room and grabs a stack of copy paper and strangles the janitor with it. After he walks out I hug him.
"What was that?" I ask upset.
"I don't know but we have to warn the others," he says. We run to the cafeteria and on our way grab Grover. Once we get in there we shut all the doors and lock them.
"The janitor tried to eat me," Lashawn claims.
"He looks all crazy like a zombie or some mutant freak," I add. Everybody looks frightened.
"I think it's the smoke outside," I insist.
"Wait what about coach," Grover says. He grabs Mary and they go check on coach. We all made a secret knock that we'll have to do to unlock the door.

Grovers POV
We get down to the area of the fallout shelter and open the door. We walk into the room and look at coaches bed and it's covered in blood. We followed the blood trail with our eyes and saw all the sick kids down there eating coach. Mary dropped her knife (our only weapon we brought with us) on the floor which made all of the freaks look at us. They start running and crawling towards us. They're way stronger and faster than us. One of the students named Addy, grab Mary's leg and trips her.
"Come on Mary," I shout as I help her up. Once we get outside she shuts the door and leans against it while I grab a pole and put it through door handle to lock it from the outside. We quickly run back to the cafeteria.
"You guys weren't lying, they ate coach, he's dead," I pant.
"Did you see Lyle?" diesel asks.
"We know he was down there and nobody down there was ok," I reply.
"What are we going to do?" Mary asks.
"We should all split up and kill any freak we find lock all the doors and seal the exit doors shut, because it's obvious the smoke did this to them," Brianna explains.
"Ok, we all meet back here at 12:00 pm," I demand. After we split, Mary takes me into the music room and shows me her calf.
"You got bit?" I ask.
