Zayn fixed his big rimmed glasses which were resting on the bridge of his nose, his hazel eyes set upon his history text book. They were currently on the topic World War II in history, his class taking a well known quiz about it tomorrow morning. The boy was probably the only one who was busting his ass to study for this quiz, but he likes good grades. And as his mother always likes to say;

The key to success is to work hard for it.

That's what he was trying to achieve. He wanted to be someone big when he gets older and the only way of doing that is to work hard and be good in school. He was basically the only one in his grade to work this hard for his grades compared to everyone else he knew. That was mainly the reason why most people disliked him. They were probably jealous of him always getting praised by teachers, hence the nickname: teachers pet.

The boy's thoughts were interrupted by a knock, his head perking up. "Come in." He said, the door opening to reveal his older brother.

Zayn sighed in annoyance. "What do you want, Toni?" He asked and looked at him. "I'm busy." He motioned to his open textbook on his lap and his scribbled notepad.

"Does it look like I care?" The twenty-two year old rolled his eyes, dropping himself on the bed. "I'm bored." He claimed and crossed his arms behind his head, looking at his little brother.

"Then go do something. I have to study." Zayn waved him off and turned his head back to his book, pushing his glasses back up his nose since it slipped again.

"Why do you always study?"

"Because unlike your lazy arse, I'm trying to achieve something here." Zayn muttered and licked his dry lips, squeaking when he got a pillow thrown at the back of his head. His glasses dropped on his lap and he huffed, turning around to glare at the immature lad.

Toni scoffed. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, you're a college dropout. And you moved back in with us. You do the math."

"You little–"

"Toni." The twenty-two year old was interrupted by their mother's voice, both boys looking up to see the woman walk in with a basket of Zayn's freshly washed and folded clothes. "Leave your brother alone." She scowled at her oldest son and shook her head, walking over to the sixteen year old's bed.

"But mo–"

"I don't want to hear it." She held her hand up and gave him a warning look. Toni pursed his lips and crossed his arms over his chest, sending the teenager a deadly glare from where he was sitting. Obviously, their mother noticed it and slapped the back of his head, Zayn biting his lip to stifle his laugh.

"Mom!"

"Get to your room and leave your brother alone." Their mother demanded with a stern voice, pointing her finger towards the door.

Toni opened his mouth to say something but couldn't find the word to build a proper sentence. Instead he just mumbled something under his breath that no one really quite understood and stood up, heading out. "I'm a grown arse man. I shouldn't be taking orders like that anymore."
