Malik-Payne penthouse

"Hey mom," Liam started as he stood outside on the balcony of his penthouse, staring up at the clouded sky. The cold wind was blowing through the city, tiny snowflakes falling from the sky. "It's- it's been a while since I've visited you or- or my like talked to you." The man chuckled lowly, sighing sadly. He looked down, watching the cars drove down the snow covered streets as well as the residence of the city doing some Christmas shopping.

"Things between Zayn and I have been going good." He smiled softly at the thought. "The kids are growing up so fast. Especially Kennette. She's only four months old and already so big. Kai has been taking good care of his stepsister, helping around the house and being Zayn's little assistant." He explained. Things have been going great between the small family. Zayn and him grew closer together, putting everything behind them whilst also raising two kids. Life was going good. Even Evan and Liam got along after Kennette's birth. The brunette had helped the older guy and gave him some fatherly advice when he needed it. They even decided to continue their partnership with the companies.

"Evan has found someone new and managed to move on. He's a very nice lad. His name is Niall and we used to attend the same high school together." Liam continued, looking down at his mother's necklace. "Sophia was released from jail a week ago. She never bothered to contact us and ask how Kai was doing nor sent anything. It's for the best anyways. He doesn't deserve a mother like that. I'm just glad Zayn gets to fit that role."

He played with the jewelry, happy memories of his mother and him coming back to mind which made his eyes water. "I wish you were here." He sniffled and wiped his eyes. "You would've loved zayn and the kids." He chuckled softly, a tear rolling down his cold and red cheek.

"I've been meaning to pop the question with zayn." Liam admitted and patted his coat pocket where a small ring box was located in it. "But I'm waiting until New Years to do so. It's still a little too soon." He chuckled and sighed heavily. "I love him a lot mum. Despite everything I did in the past, I'm so grateful to be with him again. I wish I could turn back time to stop myself but, well, that's not possible." He looked down, shaking his head at himself.

"I miss you mama." Liam whispered and clutched onto the necklace, clenching his hand into a fist and bringing it up to his lips. He held in a sob, shaking a little due to the cold and trying to hold in his crying. It's already been fourteen years since she passed away and he wished so dearly that she could come back. But that was not possible.

The cold wind blew right in his face and Liam decided to head back inside in the warm. He wiped his eyes once more, taking off his coat and shoes before walking into the kitchen to make himself a tea to warm up.

He heard the sound of the elevator and turned around, noticing someone stumbling into the penthouse. His brows furrowed together and he walked out to take a better look. "Excuse me? What the hell are you doing in my house?" He asked loudly, catching the guy's attention.

He watched him turn around to face him, shock washing over the brunet. "Vincent?" He asked, seemingly being confused because it's been a few months since he last seen his ex. He noticed that the younger bloke couldn't stand properly and spotted a bottle of vodka in his left hand, it almost being empty.

"You!" Vincent drunkenly slurred, glaring him. "Y- you did thi–" he cut himself off with a hiccup, his nose scrunching, "You di- did this to me." He managed to finish, putting the bottle back up to his lips and taking a sip whilst stumbling towards him.

"Vincent," Liam sighed and stepped closer, trying to grab the bottle from him. He flinched and quickly took a step away when the younger guy tried to swing at him with the bottle.
