His blood was boiling. "What the hell are you doing here?" Liam asked through gritted teeth, his jaw clenching. He couldn't believe that his father was standing in front of him after not seeing him for so long. The man who just left him alone when he needed him the most. All he wanted to do was punch him, that was all he could think of.
"Can't a man see his own son?" The man asked and looked at him, pursing his lips.
"Not when you left him standing at his own mother's funeral!" Liam snapped and glared at him, his hands balling into fists.
"Listen, Liam, I came to say I'm–"
"Save it." The lad interrupted him with a bitter tone. "You're lucky I didn't punch you the second I saw it was you. I don't need your fucking apology, so you can lea–"
"Liam." Kenneth spoke up from behind them interrupting the lad. Liam turned around to look at his grandfather and Zayn who walked out of the kitchen. "Why don't you and Zayn go to your room, yeah?" He suggested, giving his grandson a certain look before making his way towards them.
The brunette inhaled a deep breath and looked back at his father, shaking his head before turning around and heading to his room. He walked passed Zayn, not baring to share one glance at the boy. "You have a lot of nerves showing up out of the blue, Geoff." He heard his grandfather speak once he reached his room, slamming the door shut behind him.
Zayn startled at that and frowned a little, deciding to follow after him down the hallway. He knocked on Liam's door. "Li? Can I come in?" He asked softly and licked his lips, waiting for a reply. But when he didn't get one, he decided to just walk in, slowly opening the door.
He spotted the jock sitting on his bed, his face buried in his hands. Zayn closed the door behind him and sat down beside Liam, placing his hand on his back. "Hey," he rubbed his hand up and down, the lad's leg anxiously bouncing up and down.
Liam rubbed his face before running his fingers through his messy curls, sniffling. That's when the boy realized that he was crying, his heart sinking at the sight. The tears were rolling down Liam's cheeks, the sadness and anger lingering in his eyes. His muscles kept tensing and it was obvious he was trying to calm down.
"Hey, Li, it's okay. Try to calm down." Zayn cupped Liam's face and made him look at him. "It's okay." He wiped the tears away with his thumbs, looking at him.
"I'm sorry," Liam pulled his head back and rubbed at his eyes, "this is so not manly." He chuckled lowly and sniffled, clearing his throat. He hated crying in front of people. Especially when it came to family situations.
"I don't care whether it is manly or not, Liam." Zayn placed his hand on his cheek. "It's okay to cry." He assured him, caressing his cheekbone gently with the pad of his thumb.
"I don't like crying in front of people."
"I'm not like other people," the dark haired boy grabbed his hand and linked their fingers, "we've known each other for more than over a month now. You should know that I'm different."
"Can we just cuddle?" Liam asked softly, not wanting to talk about it anymore. Zayn Just nodded his head and moved back, laying himself down with Liam beside him. The brunette rested his head on Zayn's chest, wrapping his arms around his waist.
Zayn ran his hand through Liam's soft hair, smiling down at him. They stayed there for a while, no one saying a single word. The jock was all curled up in the sixteen year old's side, enjoying the warm embrace and the comfort he was receiving from the boy.
