Kirstie had a playlist of Avi's covers.
Ridiculous how everyone thought they weren't close. It, their colds in front of each other, was just a play that they both enjoyed so much. Mitch stopped joking on them after a fake fight that they made, what led to them unfollowed on Twitter.
"I'll miss your posts so so much, Avi.", she pouted while talked through the phone, although he couldn't see it.
"It will be fine, Kitten. You always come to my Twitter fifth a day, so it won't be a problem.", he chuckled lightly, his fingers danced on the guitar's strings.
Kirstie was petting Olaf but she bursted into laugh right after his words, "How can you know it? Oh my God you are so dangerous, Kaplan."
"So you do check my Twitter fifth a day?", Avi's voice was mixed with smiles, "How sweet you are, Maldonado. Already on bed?"
"Yup. Sing me to sleep, Avi", rolled onto her stomach, she purred softly.
"What is the magic word, hm?"
"Stop remind me about our fight! What kind of fight I can hear Avi freaking Kaplan scold at me about good and bad language? You are not Kevin.", his low laugh rumbled through the phone as she continued, "But let me tell you, dear, the real magic word between us is not 'Please'. It's 'I love you'. So... I love you, sing me to sleep, please?"
"Stop playing with my heart, Kitten. Okay, wait a sec, I'm preparing."
And the phonecall ended. A few minutes later, a voice message popped up on her phone. She put her earbuds on and played the message. Soon filled her ears was his warm voice.
"No New Year's Day to celebrate,
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away,
No first of spring, no song to sing,
In fact here's just another ordinary day."
She touched the repeat button right away as her eyes became heavier. The song just continued, and his voice sang her to sleep.
"I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart."
That was when they started their little tradition of sang each other to sleep.
Kirstie buried her face on her pillow, a smirk creeped on her lips as her phone shuffled to "I Just Called To Say I Love You" again, Avi's version. The bus was stopping in France on their forth tour, the boys went to the city for a walk but she just enjoyed laying there, listened to Avi's covers before a show. His voice, his tone, just played its way to warm her inside out and cheer her inside out. Their tradition, like she loved to call, started when she said, "I love you" and ended when he sent her a voice message, what always a song. A love song, to be clear. She didn't know why he chose that kind of songs but she guessed it was his type. Well, that was what her mind told her to think. Her heart wanted to believe that he really loved her so, and he secret told her through these songs. Sounded too ridiculous, she decided to follow her mind to protect her heart. Six years with her hopeless love for Avi and a terrible fake relationship with Jeremy, she had had enough.
There was one time, he called her right after he sent his message.
"You didn't notice, did you?", he said, almost like a whisper.
"Umm... Notice what, Avi...", she rubbed her eyes slowly.
"These songs."
"So?"
