A/N: So... Surprise?
-
Avi forgets Kirstin is just a child sometimes.
He’s not eleven years older than her or something, but since he first met her when she was sixteen, he automatically assumed she was a child.
But she’s not.
Kirstin is a creation of never-ending curves, smooth skin, dark hair, and tiny smiles on her lips. She is a deadly weapon, neither a child nor a baby.
Avi really needed someone to slap him on the face for not doing this sooner.
‘But she was just a kid, Kaplan.’ No she was not. From the moment he saw the light drain from her precious eyes, he knew she was no longer a kid.

"The three of us will stay in the dorm near the studio, but Avi lives alone. So why don't you move in, at least for the rest of the competition, Kirstie?"
Scott's suggestion made Avi immediately regret seeing these kids. He could hear Kevin chuckled quietly beside him, whispering something like, "Someone's gonna take a girl home today." To which the bass replied with a burning glare. On the other hand, the young soprano across the table looked at Scott quizzically, but didn't say a word.
"She needs to stay anywhere but her old house, and stuck with guys in a narrow dorm is not a good idea either. Can you please, let her live with you for a while?" Mitch looked up at Avi begging, with his seemingly twinkling eyes.
Avi absolutely had no idea if anyone or anything pushed him into spurting out a "Yes". A freaking ‘yes’.
By the end of the day, Kirstie was walking through the front door of Avi's studio apartment. From then on, she was his new roommate. Avi came in right behind her, with both their luggage. ‘She's your responsibility now, Kaplan. Behave, and do not fuck this up.’
So now here they were, stuck together in his small studio apartment for the rest of the unforeseeable future, at least until she got a legal guardian. He knew a few things about her broken past and why his new bandmates wanted her to live in a proper house. ‘Whatever that meant.’ They stood together in the living room, Kirstie observing the small space, unsure of what to do. She looked confused at the music sheets all over the floor, and his dirty dishes that were still in the kitchen.
There was a ladder leading to an upper floor that he made that his workspace. On the walls were sticky notes in colour, and she noticed two doors were painted the same colour as the walls. Their rooms, she assumed. Finally, after some semi-awkward silence, Avi rubbed a hand down his face in fatigue. "The shower is in the room, you can get the room on the right, but stay in my room for a night. I left spare towels in the drawer in the bathroom. I'll get the couch and clean your room tomorrow, which for now is a garage. Make yourself at home, alright?"
"Thank you." Kirstin said quietly, and for the first time since they got home, she smiled.
"No problem." He nodded, picking up a note on the wall nearby and read it out loud. "Buy milk after the meeting. Oh, I forgot!"
She chuckled, putting her hand on her mouth, and for some reason, he couldn't help but laugh along. "Oh, how similar am I to a goldfish. Ya want me to wake you up for morning groceries? Just in case you want something?"
"Of course. Thanks, again."
"That's nothing. Good night, Kirst."
The girl stopped midway, tilted her head as she watched him walk into the kitchen. "Kirst?"
