Day 7: Sweater [Darien Koop x Esther Kaplan]

Ring!

The Kaplans' doorbell rang, which made Joshua left his seat to come to see.

"Oh, hey Darien!", Josh smiled, gestured his hand to invite the older man in, "Come in! Mom is preparing dessert inside, so why don't you stay for a while?"

Darien smiled back, gently shook his hands, "No no, I'm fine. I'll just stand here and wait for Esther."

"But at least please have a cup of hot cacao, boy?", Father Kaplan appeared behind Josh with a smoking cup. He handed it to Darien. "She's upstairs, I'll call her. It's nice to meet you today, son, and I hope we can be a family soon."

Darien could feel himself blushed by Esther's father's words. He stammered out a thanks and took a sip of the cacao to calm himself down. Josh and Father Kaplan had already gone back to their house.

Then the door opened again, and Darien's heart felt to the bottom of his chest right away. His girlfriend, too pretty in her pastel pink sweater, sweetly chuckled at his amazed face.

"Hey honey."

"Oh, my... Hey babe.", he leaned in to give her a quick kiss on her lips. "We... um... Can we go?"

Esther nodded slowly, but then a big figure appeared behind her. Darien looked up to see a bearded, long hair, emerald eyes man dropped a wool hat on his girl head.

"Avi!", Esther catched it in her hands, turned back to pat him on his shoulder, "I told you not to..."

"Break your oh-love-is-in-the-air moments?", Avi laughed in a deep tone, then surprise turned his gaze to Darien. "America' to you, Essy's boyfriend."

Esther gestured, slowly introduced, "Honey, this is my younger brother Avi. He is studying far from home. Avriel, my boyfriend and my soon-to-be husband, Darien Koop."

"Nice to meet you, Avi.", Darien carefully gave a hand, which Avi quickly hold.

"Nice to meet you too, America. Please take care of my little girl and bring her back home before 11. Or I will bury you as deep as my lowest tone and..."

"Avi! Stop being an old man and let your sister go.", Mommy Kaplan pulled on Avi's coat, dragged him back inside. "Sorry to you, son. This kid always love to freak every Essy's boys. Enjoy your night, Essy, Darien."

"Yeah, enjoy your night. Please use protection. Ouch, mom! I'm just kidding!", Avi shouted loudly made Darien blushed.

Esther laughed, then hold his hand, "Let's go. That's how Avi is... He likes you, I promise, he just messed you around."

"No, he's cute, really.", Darien chuckled, gestured to the opened door of his car, "All for my lady."

His girlfriend tiptoed to kiss him again, then slided to her seat. And their little journey soon started.

Snow had already fill the air, but also brought happiness everywhere. It lingered on the trees, in the streets, around the loving couples, on his hair and on her sweater. Her sweater was lovely. Oh wait, everything she wore was lovely. Did you even have to ask?

"Are you cold, honey? Your coat is kinda too thin.", Esther glided her fingers on his coat, worried.

"With you I'm warm inside out.", he leaned down to kiss her rosy cheek.

She giggled lightly but turned back to her serious face right after, "I'm serious, Darien. There's a clothing store over there, how about come there and but you an actual sweater?"

"Anything my lady say.", he smiled as walked to the store.

The store was warm with some golden lights and a lot of winter clothes inside. Esther had gone to find him some, and he just wandered around. He focused on some thick sweaters which had letters on them. He ran to the employee.

"Excuse me, do you have that type with..."

Esther came back with some sweaters what fitted him perfectly. He would marry this girl someday, he knew it.

"Honey?", Darien told his girl when he finished the last one she brought to him, "I chose one for us, too. They're over there."

"You don't need to, you know? I didn't know you interested in shopping."

He took two red sweaters from the counter, gave her one and shrugged, "I don't, but I love you enough to spend a little time go shopping.

She blushed, even more adorable under the warm lights. As she opened the wine red sweater, she a bit chuckled when she saw a big "E" was weaved between others Christmas symbols like reindeers and mistletoes. Esther looked up to see Darien already put his on, which had a "D" at the front.

"Cute, huh?", her boyfriend laughed.

She chuckled, wore the sweater in then stepped closer to him, wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him to a sweet kiss. He shocked for a bit but soon replied her, smiled between their kiss.

"They are cute, and warm. Just like you.", Esther murmured.

Darien hugged her and pecked her cheek one more time, "I love you, and happy holiday, honey."
