ADALINE'S POV

Today was Charlie and Lily's wedding day. We had just made it back to Mum and Dad's house after the ceremony for a small reception. It was a wonderful ceremony. I'm so glad to finally have a sister-in-law.

"Are you getting tired?" Paul asked me.

I nodded lightly as I yawned, laying back in my chair. "Just a bit. Today's been a long day and our little one's been kicking a lot."

He smiled as he leaned over, placing his hand on my stomach. "Only a few more months.."

Alex came over and popped his head between us. "I don't mean to bother the happy family, I just wanted to warn you mum and dad are coming this way."

I looked up to see the two of them coming. "Great.. Come on love, let's go over and try t-"

"Trying to avoid us I take it?" My father asked as he stood in front of us.

"No, I just need to get up and move around a bit."

Dad shook his head and looked Paul over. "So this is the man who knocked up my daughter?"

I sighed and looked at him. "Dad..please.."

Paul stood up and held his hand out for my dad to shake. "Paul McCartney, sir. I know the circumstances aren't the best, but it's a pleasure to meet you."

"You have some nerve lad, coming to a family event like this after what you did."

"I came because Adaline had asked me and Charlie and Lily allowed it."

"Still, you shouldn't have came." My father said rudely.

"Dad, please. It's Charlie and Lily's day, they said it was alright for him to be here."

"The family is already surprised about what's happened to you, having him here just causes more issues. Also I'll never hear the end of it about how my youngest managed to get herself pregnant before she's married."

"You can't talk to her that way!" Paul yelled as he held me close to him. "Yes this happened, but Adaline's still your daughter and she's carrying your grandchild."

I placed my hand protectively on my bump and glared at him. "I know this wasn't planned, but this is my life now. I'm pregnant and unmarried, that doesn't matter."

"It does matter, I raised my children better than this!" Dad yelled as he turned to me. "Managing to get yourself pregnant and having that child is a mistake!"

I couldn't help but start crying when he said that. How could my own father talk to me like this?

Charlie had made his way over and looked at my parents. "What's all the yelling about?"

Alex shook his head and turned to him. "Dad's being his typical arse self, but this time he's yelling at Addie about her life and the baby. He says the baby's a mistake."

"Alexander Joseph, don't you dare talk about your father like that!" My mother said scolding him.

"He is! He has no right to talk to Addie like this and cause a scene at the reception. We're just not perfect enough for you, are we, dad?" Alex asked turning to him.

"This is my wedding reception and Lily and I's big day. Dad, you need to stop acting like this. You didn't approve of when Lily and I started dating, you don't approve of half the things that Alex does and now, of course, you don't approve of Adaline's life." Charlie explained. "We get it, we're not as perfect as you want, but just please stop this. Today is supposed to be a happy day for us."

I looked down and turned to Paul. "I think I need to go inside and lay down for a bit.."

"Of course, love, I'll walk with you." He said, taking my hand.

"I think it's best if you just leave now, lad." My Dad interjected. "Just leave us all alone."

"Mr. Mitchell, please, I'm going to take Adaline inside. If you want to talk late-"

And before he could finish, my dad had thrown a punch at him, causing him to fall back.

"Paul!" I yelled, rushing over to him.

He sat up, holding his nose. He looked at me before turning to my dad.

Charlie turned to my dad and shook his head. "Well thank you, dad, for ruining my wedding reception. Lily and I will always remember this." With that he stormed off into the house, Alex following behind him.

My dad gave the two of us a glare before walking off.

"Paul, I'm so sorry for my dad. Come on, let's get you inside and I'll get you some ice."

"I'm fine, love, really." He said standing up. "But some ice would be nice."

With that the two of us went into the house to find Charlie and Alex sitting at the kitchen table.

"Sit down with them." I told Paul as I went over to the refrigerator to get ice. "Charlie, I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean for that to happen, I didn't think Dad would go after us like that." I said as I sat down with them.

"Don't Addie, it's not your fault. I know he's like this. I just didn't think he'd act out at my wedding reception.." He said sighing.

"We can move the reception to our house." Paul offered. "This all happened because of me, it's the least we could do."

Charlie shook his head as he made himself a drink. "That's alright, Lily and I should be head out soon. Our flight leaves in a few hours."

We all just gave a small nod as he went back outside. The reception continued on for another hour before we called it a night. After how tonight went with my parents who knows how they'll do when the baby arrives.
