ADALINE'S POV
8 June 1968
Today was Mike and Meredith's wedding. My best friend was also becoming a McCartney and was officially becoming my sister-in-law. Paul was Mike's best man and I was Meredith's maid of honour—how fitting. A few weeks ago they also asked Madelynn be the flower girl and she was beyond excited.
Currently I was with Meredith and Madelynn as Paul and Mike were off socialising.
"When I look back to when we first bought the flat who knew we'd end up marrying brothers." Meredith said with a smile as she fixed her hair.
"Now you're my best friend and my sister-in-law." I laughed. "I honestly can't express how happy I am that you're marrying Mike. From the moment you two met at Mady's party Isaac and I knew there was something between you two."
"I remember that day. I wanted to slap you for inviting him, but he thought Paul was stupid for his past actions and I that's when I knew I liked him." She joked. "After Mason I was so afraid to love anyone again, but Mike made it easy."
"Mummy!" Madelynn grabbed my hand to get my attention as she spun around in her dress. "Pretty dress!"
"You look so pretty in your little flower girl dress!" Meredith picked her up and spun her around as Mady let out a giggle. "I can't believe how big she is. I remember the day you found out you were pregnant with her."
"I know, my baby girl's so big!"
"And soon you'll have your hands full with the new baby. Only a little over a month to go."
"Paul's beyond ready for him to get here. He keep saying a month is too long. I love seeing how excited he is."
"He's really taking this as a second chance. Or else that's what he's told Mike."
"Speaking of, look at the time. It's time for you to get married!" I exclaimed.
I stood up. Meredith immediately came over and hugged me.
"Thank you so much for introducing me to the man of my dreams. I'm so glad you went to the studio with your Uncle George and ended up meeting Paul."
"You're so welcome! Thank you for being there for me through everything and for being the best godmother to Madelynn. I love you so much, Mere."
"I love you too, Addie." She pulled away and wiped her eyes.
"Hey, no crying. Your makeup will run."
There was then a knock at the door and Meredith's father, Thomas, walked in.
"Now look at how beautiful you all look." He smiled. "It's time, sweetheart."
"We'll see you out there." I took Madelynn's hand. "Come on, sweetie."
"Bye bye, Auntie Mere!"
She smiled as the two of us went out with the others.
The ceremony went by quick. It was the perfect little wedding. Meredith had officially become Mrs. McCartney and I've never seen her happier.
Currently everyone was socialising. Madelynn was running around with Meredith's younger cousins while Paul and I were wandering around.
"Adaline, look at you, honey! You're glowing!" Meredith's mother, Diana, exclaimed as she pulled me into a hug. "How much longer until this baby is due?"
"About a month. We're beyond excited for him to arrive." I ran my hands over my stomach.
"Your little Madelynn is the cutest little girl! I can't believe how old she is now."
