26 June 1968
Today was an unexpected day off from the studio. John had called saying he and Yoko had important plans and that he wasn't coming in. Things have slowly started to change a bit with the four of us. It was an interesting change. Who knows where we'll go from here. Days off were always enjoyed because I get to spend the day with my girls.
Addie's book had been published a little over a week ago and so far it had been a hit. Over a thousand copies had already been sold and she had already gotten a call from her publisher asking if there would be another book.
"I told my publisher that I need to concentrate on the baby before I do anything for another book." She told me as she made Madelynn a snack.
"Love, you know if once the baby's born and you just want some space to write you can go down in my studio. I want to help you anyway you can now that you're a paperback writer." I said with a chuckle.
She rolled her eyes and gave me a playful smile. "I enjoy that. How long have you been waiting to use that song pun?"
"A very long time."
"And this is why I love you." She smiled and walked into the living room. "Mady, snack time."
Mady ran over and sat down by Addie.
"You know, if we end up having a girl again we need to think of another name." I said with a chuckle. "We're so determined that it's Matthew, but we may end up having another girl."
"Oh my, you're right! We've been thinking that it's a boy, but we just never know. What other names do you like?"
"Well we have Madelynn, we're planning on this being Matthew, so it looks like we're going with the M theme. What do you think of Mia?"
"I like Mia. There we go, so now no matter what we're having we have a name set."
Madelynn finished her snack, climbed off the couch and ran back over to her pile of toys. I watched her play for a moment before turning to Addie.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I'm just looking at my beautiful pregnant wife. Don't take this the wrong way, love, but you're huge."
"Tell me about it.." She ran her hands over her swollen stomach. "I feel like I might explode.."
"You only have about a week to go."
"This is your son, we're definitely having a boy. I wasn't this big when we had Mady."
Madelynn let out a giggle and looked over at Addie. "Mummy big!"
I let out a small chuckle, causing Addie to roll her eyes.
"Your little brother is going to be a big boy."
"Why baby big?"
"The baby's growing so that soon he can come and be here with us." Picking her up I sat her in my lap. "You were in Mummy's tummy too."
"I hope those two get along well. When mum and dad had me, Alex didn't really adjust well."
"Why doesn't that surprise me?" She said with a chuckle, running her hands over her stomach. "I think they will. She needs someone close to play with."
Madelynn went over to Addie and tugged on her dress. "I wanna play.."
"Mummy can't play sweetie, she needs to be resting." I said, causing her to pout.
