ADALINE'S POV

Meredith had moved in with Mason at the end of September and not long after I put the flat up for sale. Paul helped me back up my things and I moved in with him. The two of us agreed that his small apartment would be too cramped for our family, so he decided to go out and look for a house. After looking around we found the perfect place; 7 Cavendish Avenue. The house was three stories and it was only a short walk to the studio for Paul. He had some renovations done already, putting up a gate to give us privacy, and my favourite of all was that he had surprised me by having Madelynn's nursery all painted and everything put in it for when we moved in.

I had just gotten home after running to the store. I was in the process of unloading the car when I saw my mother pull up to the house.

"Mum, what a surprise.. I didn't expect you to stop by." I said as she walked over to me.

She looked around at the house for a few moments before turning to me. "I won't be staying long. I just wanted to thank you for embarrassing your father and I at your brother's wedding."

"I embarrassed you? I did nothing to you! Dad was the one that had to go and start something."

"You had no right inviting him to a family event."

"Charlie and Lily said it was okay, they asked if I wanted to. It was their day, not yours."

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I just don't understand how you could have been so careless and let this happen. Did you not think of using protection?"

"I'm not going to argue about this." I let out a sigh. "Things happened and now this is how life is. We just have to accept it and move on."

"Your father and I do not support your life choices. We thought we raised our children better. You do what you want, we don't want any part of it."

"You're not going to be around at all? Your first grandchild is going to be coming into this world in a few months and you want nothing to do with him or her?" I asked as I rested my hand on my bump.

"As I said, we don't want part of this. Now you and that cheeky git go off and do whatever the bloody hell you want." And with that she stormed off.

I grabbed the groceries and went inside to find Paul unloading boxes. The past few days he's been doing small final renovations while I unpacked everything.

"There's my sexy handyman.."

He turned around, pulling me to him as he kissed me. "And here's my gorgeous woman."

"Do ya need any help?"

"No no. Well nothing that you can help with. I still have some work to get done. The bathrooms need finished, so since I have the day off I thought I'd work on it more. My dad and brother are coming over to help me a bit."

"Your family's coming? Why didn't you tell me sooner? I haven't met either one of them yet and I look horrid!" I yelled at him.

"You look beautiful as always, love, don't worry."

"Thank you, babe." I grabbed one of the bags and began to unload the groceries. "Do they know about all of this?"

"I've told Mike, yeah. My dad not yet.."

I quickly turned around to face him. "Paul McCartney, are you kidding me? How could you not tell him?"

"I just didn't know when would be the best time to tell him.."

"Yer dad's coming all the way from Liverpool to stay and he doesn't have a clue that we're living together or about our child. 'Hi Mr. McCartney, I know we've never met and you don't even know me, but I'm carrying your grandchild'."

"I'm sorry love, I promise to take responsibility for that.. I should have told him sooner."

"It's alright. This was all so sudden. It'll finally be nice to meet your family though." I went back to the groceries. Soon there was a knock on the door as it opened.

"Paul, we're here!"

"Hi Mike, thanks for coming up." Paul said as he walked over to him. "Addie, love, c'mere."

I went over to him as he wrapped his arm around me.

"This is my brother Mike. Mike, my girlfriend Adaline."

"It's nice to meet you." I said, putting my hand out for him.

"So you're new bird Paul's been talking about. I can't believe you're having a kid with this one. Good luck with him, love."

I gave him this nervous look as Paul pulled me to him and shook his head.

"Mike likes to joke. He's not serious."

I nodded lightly, Mike looked over at Paul then to me.

"Why don't you show me around and we can get to know each other more?"

"Sure, come on."

PAUL'S POV

I watched as those two walk off. Not too long after I saw my dad walk in.

"Dad, it's great to see you." I said as I pulled him into a hug.

"You too, son. This place is very nice. I'm just wondering, why the sudden move?"

"Well, there's something I want to talk to you about. I'm actually with someone and she's moving in with me."

"You're with someone already?" He asked as he gave me this surprised look. "Didn't you and Jane just end things?"

"We did, yeah. But now I'm with someone else. She's a fab bird, dad, I really care about her."

Before he could say any more I went to get Adaline, bringing her back downstairs.

"Dad, this is Adaline. Addie, my dad."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. McCartney." She said nervously.

He looked at her for a moment. I saw his eyes wander to her stomach before looking back at me.  "Oh, hello. I'm sorry, I didn't realize.."

"That's my fault.." I said butting in. "I didn't know when would be the best time.."

"James Paul McCartney, you know you can always talk to me. No matter what."

"I know, Dad."

"I don't mean to sound rude at all, but could you two just explain this whole thing to me? I'm just rather surprised."

Adaline looked down as I took her hand and held it tightly. "I know it seems sudden, but we're starting a family. It wasn't planned and I know we should have been more responsible, but we're happy. I've always wanted to settle down and this is my chance. The baby's due in December."

At first he didn't really have any emotion on his face, I couldn't tell if he was upset or how he was feeling. Adaline and I both looked at each other until soon my Dad spoke up.

"And what do we think we're having?"

"A girl." Addie said. "We're really hoping so."

"A granddaughter? How wonderful. Any names picked out?"

I smiled as he placed my hand on her stomach. "We've decided on Madelynn Mary."

"After your mum?"

I leaned down and kissed Adaline gently before smiling at my dad. "It was actually Addie's idea."

Dad looked over at her with this warm smile. "That's very sweet.. She would have loved it."

"I wish I could have met her. Paul talks about her often."

"She'd be happy to see Paul starting a family with such a wonderful young woman."

I looked down at Addie and kissed her deeply. "I'm a lucky man.."
