Ashes to Ashes

I woke up in my room again not entirely remembering what happened after Daisy left. The most I did know, was the rider was trying to come out. I looked at my hands and just like before, the bruises were gone. I dragged myself out of bed carrying out my usual routine. I made my way down to the parking lot only to see an all too familiar charger parked there. It's driver standing outside leaning against it.

“What you're stalking me now?” I asked. Robbie rolled his eyes.

“No. Just wanted to take you for a drive.” He said showing his keys. I rolled my eyes folding my arms in front of myself. I took a slight step closer to him making sure I was somewhat in his face.

“And if I say ‘no’?”  He chuckled.

“You don't have a choice. See this is new for me. I've never been-”

“Cussed out?” I asked sarcastically. He huffed.

“Challenged.” I watched his eyes as he seemed to look at me up and down. “Take a picture. It'll last longer.” I said.

He frowned at me and opened the door. “Get in.”

I shook my head. “No thanks I have my bike.”

“I wasn't asking. You either get in or I take you off the ground and throw you in.” Such a gentleman (note the sarcasm). I let out a small grunt and got in the car. “That’s what I thought.” he said closing the door. I rolled my eyes and tapped on the edge before the window when he got in. He started the engine not saying a word as he pulled out of the parking lot. I couldn't help but look outside the window. The road and the blur of colors always made me relax. I closed my eyes slightly taking in a small breath when the car suddenly stopped making me move forward a little.

“Really?” I asked with a small frown.

“Can't have you falling asleep on me princesa(princess).” Robbie grumbled a sarcastic tone clear in his voice. I shook my head in disbelief.

“OK my Spanish isn't perfect but I know what you just called me. Trust when I say if you call me that again, I'll let the rider have full control.”

Robbie chuckled shaking his head slightly. “You made it clear you didn't like ‘chica’ I have to call you something.”

“What my dad didn't tell you my name?” I can't believe I'm having this conversation right now.

“No. He didn't actually. He just said for me to look after his ‘firefly.’ When I asked why the hell was I going to take care of some stupid bugs, he said it was the nickname he had for you.” I looked forward then at him.

“It's Kyla.” I said. He gave a small glance.

“What?”

“My name. It's Kyla.”

“Kyla? That's different.” He said looking at the road. I shrugged.

“My dad said it wasn't his idea.”

Robbie raised an at me. “Your mom's then?” I nodded not wanting to bring up my past.

“Can we stop this whole 20 questions bit? I already had enough of it from your girlfriend last night.” We pulled up to a red light as Robbie looked at me confused.

“Who said I have a girlfriend?”

I looked at him possibly just a confused. “Daisy. That's your girlfriend right?” He shook his head with a laugh.

“Nah, just a friend.” I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at him.

“Really?” He nodded with a shrug as the light turned green. “Kinda odd if you ask me.”
