Maeve POV

I dropped Michael off at the hospital, and just as I am about to leave my phone starts to ring. A sigh escapes my lips as I pick it up from the cup holder in the car. The caller id says that it is a call from Luke's phone number. Hesitant to answer, I click the green button and put it on speaker, but I don't say "hello". I hear quick, rushed breathing on the line.

"Maeve? Maeve! I need your help, please answer, oh God!" I hear Luke's hushed voice on the phone.

"Luke? Tell me where you are, I'm coming to get you."

"I'm at a bank, in a vault. I know the passcode for the lock but there's people with guns and I don't know what to do!"

Luke is panicking and I know I don't have that much time to get to him. "Luke, I need you to calm down. I am on my way, I'm coming to get you. Can you tell me the code?"

38-12-32 Is the code that he repeats in a mumble. I tell him to stay onto the line until he is forced to hang up the phone. Just by listening to what he was telling me, it won't be easy to get Luke out of the vault. Especially if there are guards in the vault, but I need to try my best.

The car skids to a stop, running out of gas. At least I'm only a few blocks away so I can run without the guards knowing that I am coming. I can only pray that I am prepared as I holster my gun, and take some extra amo. I take my knife with me just in case. My feet carry me toward the bank without my mind thinking. Sprinting, heart pounding, faster faster faster. I keep going until I see the bank. There is an ally way next to the side of the bank. I quickly turn to run down it, hoping to get to the back door. The door is locked, I have no choice but to shoot the lock.

Bang!

Adrenaline surges through me as I take a deep breath, preparing me for what's inside. There is no time for me to waste, so I rush inside, holding my gun out in front of me. I don't even think as the gun fires in my hands. One, two, three, four shots. Four people on the floor, blood rushing out from their wounds. None of them are dead, I didn't aim to kill. I aimed to get to Luke.

The vault was heavily protected before I got there, but now it stands alone unguarded. Its an eerie sight to see, silence filling the room. I repeat the code to myself before spinning the lock quickly. I flick it open, but I don't open the door. Voices interrupt the silence. They seem to be arguing with each other. Suddenly, the voices stop and I see the doorknob slowly turning. My instincts kick in as I hide behind a table. I am not visible unless someone is specifically looking for me. The barrel of my gun can poke out of my hiding spot. My heart thuds in my chest.

A man walks out slowly, but he doesn't notice me. His gun is pointed at the floor, there is no way he would react in time. I shoot at his hip, the bullet striking him with enough force to spin him around. I smile as he falls to the ground, but I didn't notice the second man come out of the vault. The second spotted me, and fires. I try and duck, but the bullet hits my right hand. I bite my lip in order to not cry out in pain. Blood flows freely from the fresh wound, but I have no time to dress it. I pick up my gun in my left hand, praying that my aim is somewhat good. I fire back.

Bang!

He falls to the floor. I take this opportunity to run into the vault, ignoring the searing pain coming from my hand. I don't even flinch as bullets fly by my head, I just fire back. Another bullet hits my right shoulder. My vision starts to go black, I am about to pass out. Luke screams my name, which is the only thing that prevents me from an unintentional slumber. I shoot the last guard, and as he goes down, a sigh of relief escapes my lips.

"I did it." I whisper to myself.

I flip the knife out of my pocket. Luke is tied to a chair with ropes and duct tape. My eyes can not focus on what I am doing as I cut the ropes. I know I am about to pass out, so I hand the knife to Luke's now free hands. His voice sounds rushed and distant. Luke is talking to me, I am sure of it. I just can't hear what he is saying. Bits and pieces of his words come to me as I struggle to keep my eyes open. I can't seem to focus on anything.

"Maeve.... stay.... keep eyes....open..."

That is all I hear before I can almost feel Luke pick me up. Is he carrying me? I have no idea. His face is surrounded in white, or is that black? Whatever it is it begging me to focus on it. Luke's piercing blue eyes close for a second as he blinks, and mine close for...
