Maeve POV

I breathe in the sent of pine trees and lake water. We're at a small lake in Tennessee, about two hours away from their show in Nashville. The lake is small, but provides the perfect escape from reality.

The fly rod in my hand proves it's worth by catching another fish. It's a small trout, which I have to release. The guys decided that they wanted to go fishing, or attempt to. I'm perfectly okay with that, I haven't used this fly rod in a while.

Somehow, Calum convinced a man to let the and borrow some cheep fishing rods for the day. I asked the boys if they needed help, but they insisted that they could do it themselves. For the past ten minutes, I've been laughing as they struggle to bait the hooks with worms and crickets. By now, they only have half the crickets that they've started with and none of them have touched the worms.

The cool water rushes against my calfs as I stand in the middle of the stream. The trees surround us, providing privacy, but I doubt that anyone would follows us out here. I feel a tug on my line, pulling my attention back to the fish. As I reel it in, I hear Mikey bickering with Luke about who will touch the worms.

This is the first trout that I can keep because it's big enough. There's a law about how big the trout has to be and how many one person can catch. I wade out of the water to the cooler full of ice. The fish is still flopping on the hook which makes Ashton scream. I laugh as I take it off the hook and place it in the cooler.

"Say hello to dinner boys."

Honestly, I'm glad that 5sos decided to try something new. Fishing is the last thing I would think that they would try, and I'm proud of each of them for trying. After I help them get started, I scale and filet the fish. Every now and then I yell out pointers and soon enough, Michael catches a fish followed by each of others. They all seem proud, making me take a picture of them with their prized possessions, even though they have to release them.

BANG!

My head snaps up as I hear a gun shot which disrupts the peace. I watch as Ashton freezes in place, looking toward the spot where the noise came from. The other three turn their heads to look at me as if they were waiting for instructions. To me, it sounded like a rifle, used for hunting.

"Get in the car." My order is short but stern.

The boys move quickly to get in the car, but Dave, another one of their bodyguards, walks toward me. He places a hand on my shoulder like a father would.

"Stay safe Maeve. They would be crushed if anything happened to you. Stay safe."

I nod slightly, not looking to him. "Take them back to the hotel. If I'm not there by sound check, don't worry. Once the show starts, you should be worried."

Dave sighs before walking back to the car filled with the band. I can practically feel their eyes on me as I walk toward the sound of the gun. The rumble of the van passes by me as Dave pulls them away from me. I can almost hear Ashton yelling at Dave to turn around and Calum telling Ashton to calm down.

BANG!

I flinch as I hear another shot ring out without a warning. At least I can tell that the person is shooting away from me, so I'm behind them.

"To your six o'clock!" I yell at the top of my lungs.

My feet keep trudging through the forest before I enter a clearing. A man stands with his rifle and a few birds at his feet. He's just a hunter. Before I know it, we start talking about different game and what is best for hunting. Somehow, I lose track of time...

"She isn't back yet! Shouldn't we call the police or something?" I hear a thick Australian accent ask.

Another person snorts. "Isn't she the police?"

I enter the dressing room. "Damn right I'm the police."

The four boys sit on the couch, relief filling their faces. I quickly tell them how it was just a hunter and how we got caught up talking.

"You guys have a show to do! Get on stage!" I rush them.

After a couple of songs, the boys come backstage for a quick water break. Ashton is very quick because he has to go back on stage first, he is the drummer after all.

This stage is rather nice. They have Ashton's drum kit set up on a platform that rises. The fans can see him better that way, and it also just looks cool. There is a little cat walk where Mikey goes to play his solos. I think the boys really like this stage.

I watch as the platform begins to rise as the band starts to play Good Girls. Ashton seems to be having so much fun with the fans as he tells them to sing his solo. I hate it when he does that because I know a lot of the fans want to hear him sing. But it makes for great moments with their fans, so it's okay.

Calum usually never gets solos on his bass, so this show he plays a quick solo off the top of his head. He had nothing prepared and was freaking out about it backstage. I know how hard it can be to improvise, but Cal did amazing. I'm surprised he was even worried in the first place.

My glance returns to Ash as he starts the drum line to end the song. I can tell that he is putting 110% into this show. He teeters back in his little drum stool. Usually he is clipped in so he won't fall, but I notice that the clip is hanging off the side of the platform. He leans back just a bit too much.

I watch, helpless, as he tumbles from the platform to the bottom of the stage.

Don't hate me! I've had this idea for a while! It will be continued next chapter! I'm not in love with the middle part of the chapter, but I like the beginning and end.
