Maeve POV
I groan in pain as I move toward the couch in the large hotel room. My right arm throbs with pain. I situate myself on the couch, playing the news on the flatscreen TV. My mind wanders and I don't really pay attention to what's on the news. I allow my eyes to flutter closed, but they snap open when Jax barks at something behind me. Immediately, I tense up and I slowly turn to see what's behind me. Calum, carefully balancing a bowl filled with soup, a glass of water, and some crackers on a plate. Jaxson relaxes when he realizes that the noise he heard was only Calum.
"Hi Cal." I say weakly.
"Hey Maeve. I thought you might be hungry, so I brought some food for you. How are you feeling? Do you need more medication or anything? Can I get you anything?"
"Some pain killers would be great. Thank you for the soup."
This is how most of my days have been for the past week. Three of the 5 Seconds of Summer members go do an interview with Agent One while the last member stays with me. The boys also took advantage of this time to start shooting a music video for their new song, Want You Back. They are very excited for this project and they happily tell me all the details when they come back after a long day of filming. I politely listen, but I tend to not pay attention. I usually get really tired at the end of the day, so it is hard to focus on their words after a while. Jaxson stays by my side the entire day except when he goes for a walk with one of the boys. He really enjoys walking with the boys, and he is always tired afterward.
"Here, Maeve." Calum snaps me out of my daze. I smile gratefully and gulp down the pain killers. Calum switches the channel on the TV so that we are watching Riverdale. I didn't know Calum watches Riverdale. Calum nudges himself closer to me so that it's not awkward, but allows me enough space to eat my soup (so I won't spill it all over his face). I watch as Betty and Jughead converse on screen. My eyes grow heavy and I know I'm about to fall asleep. Thankfully, Calum takes the food out of my hands and places on the coffee table next to him. I allow him to put his arm around me, and I rest my head against his chest. It's more comfortable this way. My eyes flutter shut as Calum plays with my hair.
"Mate, what the fuck!" I hear Ashton say.
"Shut up Ash. She's sleeping." Cal responds.
"I don't give a fuck. Isn't she supposed to be my girlfriend?" Ash retorts.
I snuggle deeper into Calum just to piss Ashton off. I can feel their eyes on me as they assume that I am sleeping. "Lay off mate. She was in pain and this is what allowed her to fall asleep. Just chill, will ya? You don't know if she likes you back anyway. She's not looking for an actual relationship is she?"
"Fuck you Cal." Ashton growls.
"Guys calm it." Michael pipes up.
"Fuck off Mike." Calum spits.
Jaxson seems to notice the tension in the room and he stands up protectively. I can hear him growl quietly, but no one else seems to notice.
"Mate just let it go. She's just sleeping."
"No!"
Jaxson barks, which "wakes" me up. I reach to my hip instinctively where I keep a knife. Even though I know there is no danger, I have to put up the act for the boys. Four pairs of eyes turn towards me and I can feel them burning holes into me. Ashton and Calum meet eyes again, and if looks can kill, they would both be dead.
"Who do you want me to kill?"
"Calum." Ash says at the same time, "Ashton."
I sigh heavily. "Boys, if this is some stupid teenage argument, I suggest you grow up. As much as I would like to kill the both of you, I can't. It would be going against my job. Why are you two even fighting in the first place?"
"Ash started it." Calum pouts.
"Does it look like I give a damn?" I retort.
"It's nothing, don't worry about it."
Ash sighs and leaves the room. I hear a door slam somewhere in the hotel suite, probably Ash trying to get some space from us. Luke shakes his head in disappointment and wanders off to his room. Mike follows suit and I am now left with Calum. Pain strikes my head, so I rub my hands across my temples to relieve the pain.
"Your childish fighting is making my head hurt. I'm just going to go to bed." I tell Calum.
He nods slightly before releasing his grip on me. I stand up, but I feel slightly dizzy. Before I know it, I am falling. There's not much I can do but brace for impact. But, Calum catches me before I can hit the floor. He supports my weight as he brings me back to my feet. At this point, my head is pounding and the room is spinning.
"I'll give you a piggy-back ride to your room."
I'm too tired to even care that Ashton and Calum were just fighting over me. I nod slightly and allow Calum to carry me to my room.
"I'll send Luke in. G'Night Maeve."
I really hate it when there is tension between the members of the band. It makes my job rather difficult.
"Hi Maeve. Sorry for Ashton and Calum. They are being stupid."
I sigh. "I'm just so tired of them acting so childish. I'm tired of dealing with everyone's shit. I can't stand it anymore. It's driving me crazy."
"Just go to bed, it will resolve in the morning."
Signing off,
Maeve Carter
