"someone is looking for you hyun!"

it was only noon, and the first half of classes had just ended when wendy suddenly rushed to my seat, and kneeled right in front of my desk.

"s-someone is looking for you! a guy from the other class!"

she paused for a bit and did a big inhale before she started speaking to me againㅡmore like rapping. "it's a guy! holy moly! joohyun! do you know what this means? you never had a guy come look for you in class!"

she's right. for the first time in my high school life, this is the only time i've experienced such a thing. i never wished for it to happen, and i never thought it would ever happen to me; but there was only one person who crossed my mind.

"which guy? the bean sprout?" wendy nodded continuously while i could only roll my eyes heavenwards. ugh. what does he want now?

my expectations reached rock bottom when i confirmed it was him, but for some reason, my heart started beating fast when i saw his face.

"it's him! it's the guy who i told you that was popular! now i know why!" wendy whispered. but my eyebrows furrowed at her statement.

"why?"

"he used to be in another school's basketball team. the shooting guard who never misses his shots. oh god i hope he joins our school team!"

"stop exaggerating wendy." my eyes squinted at her absurd rumor and i shook my head in disbelief. this president should stay away from her vice president, geez.

"but it's true!"

"okay, so you're telling me that a bean sprout like him is good at basketball? hah! you're really gullible wendy. nice joke." i scoffed.

"she seemed serious though."

i came to a halt when i realized that he was already standing in front of me, with a wide smirk on his face. our eyes met.

"omo. i forgot, we have a meeting." wendy gasped. she immediately stood up, bowed, and left me alone with him. i knew she used an excuse. she didn't have a meeting because they always do it after class. that traitor.

"hi." he raised his hand and waved timidly at me.

"uh, hi." well that was awkward.

"long time no see."

"what do you mean long time no see? we just saw each other yesterday!" i hissed. he just chuckled and comfortably leaned on the desk beside me. smiling like there's no end.

this kid has issues.

"you don't believe that a bean sprout like me can play basketball?" he spoke first, sounding disappointed and all. but his pride prevailed in the end. "you name it, i can play any sport. i guarantee you."

i did my best to stop myself from bursting out in laughter. i just had to stop myself, but i couldn't. "haha!ㅡ
if your good at sports then that means i'm a genius at math. nice try."

"i didn't say that i was good. all i said is that could play." he smirked. crossing his arms up to his chest. tss

"whatever." i rolled my eyes at him and packed my stuff as quickly as possible; but then a thought crossed my mind. i was curious about something, and since i was already pissed off for the day i might as well just ask him.

"why did you come see me anyway?" i huffed, trying to sound like i didn't care or anything, cause i really don't.

he took awhile to answer, but when he did, he smiled his brightest at me.

"nothing. i just wanted to see you."

there he goes again. unexpectedly making my heart beat this fast. i don't know what's wrong with me, or should i say what's wrong with him? is this even normal? am i dying?

"if you have no reason at all, then just leave me alone. i need to study." i stood up from my seat and slung my backpack on my shoulder. but before i could even take a step, he held my wrist all of the sudden.

"wait. joohyun."

"what now?"

"have lunch with me."

my eyes widened, but i tried to remain composed at his surprising question. wendy and seulgi always asked me the same thing but why do i feel like all my senses had stopped working.

"are you out of your mind? no way! don't you have any friends? why would you ask me? go ask them!"

"i wasn't asking though. it was a statement. i said, have. lunch. with. me." he clearly said, making his point.

i couldn't respond right away, because he abruptly grabbed my hand and pulled me to the cafeteria, leaving me with barely any time to react to all of this.

"seriously, what are you trying to do? let go!ㅡ"

"i want to know more about you. that's all."

"are you serious?" why would someone like you even take interest in a boring person like me? is he okay?

i was trying to escape from his tight grip when he suddenly stopped his tracks, making me accidentally bump into him.

he turned around to face me, and he was smiling again. i could tell just by the looks of it that he's planning something. something odd, like him.

"didn't you want your notebook back?"

oh yeah! i almost forgot. that's the only reason why i'm still talking to him anyway.

"where is it?"

"i'll give it back to you, after we go for lunch."
he winked, before turning away with that smirk on his face.

again, that notebook doesn't even have any value to me anymore. he can keep it for the sake of humanity. for all i care.

"f-fine!"
he chuckled at my answer.

but why in the world did i still agree?
