"dude, did you get rejected or something?" yoongi hung his arm around me and questioned, or more like just rubbing it in. "why did she walk away?" he chuckled.

my brows furrowed at his joke, but i was obviously not in a good mood to find it humorous.

"don't push it yoongi." his smile faded, looking confused and worried at the same time.

i immediately stood up from the bench. i thought of following joohyun to just check up on her to see what's wrong.

not until i noticed a purple notebook, right on the bench where she sat not too long ago.

i flipped it open, and in that instant i knew, it was bae joohyun's.

"hey, i'm sorry. i don't know what exactly happened but, weren't you smiling the whole time you were playing earlier?"

yoongi patted my shoulder, but my mind was still occupied about the notebook, and joohyun, and the way she acted earlier andㅡ

"if that's how it is then taehyung, tell her what you really feel. before it's too late."

i don't know what yoongi was talking about earlier, but his last few words snapped me back into reality.

"you're right. i should." but will she believe me?

jimin furrowed his eyebrows at my response and looked at me menacingly. "but you said you'll go home with me! you promised!"

"and when did i? you got a girlfriend don't you?" i huffed, gazing over him in disgust as i stood up from my seat.

"i just can't understand the relationship between you two." namjoon sighed, meanwhile yoongi merely shrugged without saying another word.

"hey. i'm just trying to comfort his rejected ass here."

"first of all i did not confess! therefore i was not rejected!"

oooh defensive yoongi mumbled which i clearly heard.

"oh well then my friend, scratch that. what i meant was soon-to-be rejected ass-hole." he smirked, with the other two bursting out in laughter.

"whatever." i stormed out of the cafeteria and just walked out on them. actually that dumbass jimin just dragged me to lunch, when i didn't even want to eat.

my actual priority was looking for joohyun during the break, but i couldn't find her anywhere.

is she this good at hiding? why was she avoiding me in the first place? did she realize that i have her notebook? does she even remember losing it?ㅡ

"ah. sorry." i bumped into a guy, but i didn't quite recognize his face since he immediately turned away. he nodded, but he didn't even bother responding or to spare me a glance.

and somehow, after a few steps i ended up in front of the infirmary again. well, whatever. i have to ask her something anyway.

i knocked on the door and entered the nurse's office without haste. the nurse wasn't at her table, so i continued to the bed where the curtains were drawn closed.

ever since i transferred here, visiting the infirmary became so natural, that even the nurse knows me by now; just because my sister frequently goes here.

"ya kim yerimㅡ"

i casually walked in, but i never thought that the person i was looking for all this time would just be here. and now she's in front of my eyes.

"joohyun.." i called. removing some strands of her hair that was covering her face. she was sleeping, and i didn't want to disturb her.

but that troubled look on her face, made me unconsciously touch her cheek. i was right. she did have a fever.

"mm.." i flinched. her sudden noise made me pull my hand back immediately.

good thing she didn't wake up, or else i would've been banished and cursed at. i wouldn't even have the liberty of staring at her like this.

looking at her closely, memorizing her features. her fair skin, long eyelashes, her nose bridge, her rosy cheeks and her pinkish lips.

she's so close, and yet she's so far away. with the way she acts, i could clearly tell that she doesn't want me to talk to her at all.

but this feeling is overwhelming..i haven't seen her for years, and this is not what i hoped for us to be when we met. avoiding me and resenting me, while i'm the only one who is in love..

"it hurts, irene.." can't you remember faster?
