So, I have an idea for a story that I love. I'm really excited for it and I can't wait to start detailing it. I usually prefer to have most of a story written before I publish chapters but it would take far too long this time. I have a curious 1 year old and she won't let me sit and write without interruption (how rude).
Anyway, I'm also facing a dilemma. My instinct is telling me to write this story as a mystery/thriller; and I was raised on Agatha Christie and Columbo so it's definitely more my interest. However it's going to take more effort and since having my daughter my brain is like scrambled egg.
I could make it a romance-based story and I know chicklit and romance and teen fiction is really popular so probably would garner more reads, but I feel I'd be selling myself short. It'd be easier to do but much less me.
Any advice? Either way I'm going to have to start working on a plot and it's good to have alternatives in case I find I need to change direction. Do I put the effort in or do I just knock one out?
I hate being an adult.
