34. Silent Melody (Poem)

Whenever I sang my songs for you
Wishing to be heard
Up here, alone,
In this tiny little bar

I always searched the crowd
Peering through the gloom
Best I could
To find your face

When I found you gazing back
It wasn't just a glance
More of a study
Into my soul

Oh, all the times you looked
Did you ever know, dear,
That I looked at you?
I always did

Night after night I played
Trying to send a message
Through my song
Did you hear it?

Why would you come back here
Unless it were for me?
You react with smiles
As I dictate

Darling, I can see you feel me
You understand me
Because my song
Is my soul

So as you sit there, drinking it in
Revelling in my bar
Give me a sign so I know
I'm no dreamer

Sometimes I pretend it's just us
All alone in this tiny room
You feel the heat
I am the fire

So I sing on, waiting for you
Show me you do care
Because I'm here for you
To draw me in

My eyes glitter, dear, when they catch yours
It's no coincidence, you know this
Just say the words
I'll come right over

Whenever I sing my songs just know
I'm wishing to be heard
Up here, alone,
In this tiny bar
