Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Lips lightly parted in shock, we stared at each other. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Sam and Tucker's eyes began to melt into a glare. Tick. Tock. Tick.
"Zhoo vklw"
"We can understand you, ghost!"
"Oh, yeah, well, uh... spare me?"
"Why are you going to our school?! And carrying weapons!"
"Clockwork."
"Clockwork?"
"I am the prince of the ghost zone and also clockwork's ward and ex-apprentice."
"Why ex-apprentice?" Sam asked with malice in her voice.
"Well that'd be because 13 days, 7 hours, 5 minutes and 22 seconds ago I finished learning what he knows. Now I only have to train to be king and on my next Death Day I'll be crowned."
"But clockwork knows so much!"
"I've been training under him for two y- ah two decades! Yeah, decades." Sam looked at him suspiciously. The conversation continued until I announced that there were forty-five minutes until school. We walked along the pavement in silence, admiring the weeds that crawled into their path. At some point, Tucker had glanced up at Sam and given her a light nod. Sam nodded back. They would help me. Prince Alpha... I can't get used to that. I jogged up the school path, just barely on time. The corridors were empty. Sam caught my arm as I was about to enter. "I have one more question." I nodded. "Do you know anything about Danny Phantom? Has he formed in the ghost zone? Do you know where he is?"
I sculpted my face into a mask of indifference. I couldn't answer truthfully so I would answer at all. I teleported to the outside of my classroom leaving a light puff of swirling green, white and black behind.
