Chapter 4:

Matts *POV

"Alright, listen up everybody. No matter what happens tonight, we will stay together. We're only losers when we quit not when we lose. So put your hands in we are in this together." Coach Johnson said. "1..2..3 GO!" everyone yells.

I lead everyone out of the tunnel and onto the field. This was gonna be awesome. We were gonna win. I hadn't smoked before this game or drank so I was good. I was quarterback and everyone counted on me.

I could hear the chants of the crowd. I was about to say hut when I looked up. It was Valerie. I quickly looked back at the big guy in front of me and got mad. I threw the ball back and said "Ten, hut!"

*2hrs later*

The game was over. We won 64-45!! I went with some friends to the convenient store down the street and got some beer. We went outside in the back alley and drank and smoked like normal.

Valerie's *POV

Our team won 64-45! They did really good tonight. I was shocked. By the time I got home it was 10pm so I went to bed.

*school the next day*

"Hey!!! Valerie I have been looking for you everywhere!" Marlise said out of breath. "What's up? If it's about the shorts you left at my house their in my locker." I respond laughing."Hah no I mean I want them but anyways it's about Matt" "oh um I have to get to class I'll text you later and you can tell me then" I said turning to walk away. "He was with another girl. He was walking hand in hand with her yesterday and today" she yelled at me.

I didn't want to hear it so I left. How could he? He told me literally 2 days ago he really liked me and the bet was stupid. He's such a player.

I was really heated at that point so when I saw Matt and his "girlfriend" I did something I shouldn't have. I walked straight up to them and said "Hey Matt! Who's this? Is this another girl you and Cody betted on? Ha I bet it is." I turned to her and looked her up and down. "You're pretty but he doesn't care. He just wants to get in your pants. This was probably all a bet. So don't get to close." I then turned and walked away before thy could say anything.

Omg I can't believe I did that, I thought to myself as I walked to my car. He makes me so mad. My heart is broken and he has the nerve to play with me like that. Uggh!

Matts *POV

I literally don't even know what just happened. Ally (the girl I was with) turned to me with hurt in her eyes. "Was this a bet? Do you really even like me?" she says. "Ally, I'm sorry, I - I don't know what to say, I really.." I got cut off by her screaming at me.

Well that was fun. I thought to myself. How could Valerie do that? Was she really that upset? I hate jealous girls. I liked Valerie but I didn't. I don't really know what I felt for her. But at the moment I just wanted to punch her.

The next day I was out with friends doing the usual when I saw her. I walked up to her and started screaming. Everything after that was really blurry. I can't remember everything but the police coming. And it's all just blurry.

Valerie's *POV

I saw Matt and he was with his friends drinking and smoking. He started to approach me. When he got to me he got right in my face and started screaming "Why are you here? Why do you have to ruin everything?! I apologized to you for the bet. And this is how you repay me?!" he then proceeded to get closer and he smacked me.

I stumbled backwards and I realized he was drunk. I told him to calm down and his friends came over there trying to calm him down. But he kept hitting people. He just kept going off, I'd never seen him like that and it was scaring me.

Just when he started to finally calm down the police pulled up. I guess someone called them. They came up and told him to sit down. I told them that I didn't need help that it was fine. They all just looked at me like I was crazy but they left.

I sat down next to Matt who was now crying with his face in his knees. I told him to look at me. He lifted his face up and just stared at me. I could tell he had no idea what had happened, but he knew it was bad.

I drove him home and walked him to his room. I gave him some medicine and left. I felt bad for him but I was still angry. He slapped me. That shows what a real man he is. But it was over now.

Matts *POV

I knew I did something bad. I felt terrible even without knowing what I did. I couldn't live like this anymore. I didn't want to.

I wanted to just die but I knew I couldn't, I had a little brother who looked up to me. He was my little man I had to stay for him.

I finally got to sleep around 11 and then woke up the next morning around 10. So that was nice. I felt a lot better. I got a shower and got dressed and went to get breakfast. Cody was at the convenient store so I went to say hey.

"Hey man, you want some?" Cody said offering me some weed. "Um nah I'll pass today, I gotta go. I have to fix something." I responded before turning to walk away. It was time I made this right.
