Chapter 6:

Valerie's *POV

He just asked me out, like on a proper date. What do I say? Oh my gosh. "I don't know. That's hard being as I put so much trust in you and you played me" I say instead of a straight up answer. "I swear if you give me this chance I will make it worth wild" he says now pleading.

"Fine, but this doesn't mean I forgive you." "Great, I'll pick you up tomorrow at 6, dress nice" Matt responds.

I was excited about the date but at the same time I wasn't. I called Marlise and told her everything. She acted excited but I could tell she wasn't, she hates matt.

*the next day*

It was 4:45 and I started getting ready. I got a quick shower and did my makeup then got dressed. I put on my turquoise chevron strapless dress that goes to my knees with some silver high heels.

Matt came to pick me up and when we were getting in his truck he made a big deal about opening the door for me. it was kinda cute. We got to the place we were eating at about 6:30. The place we ate at was called "Chipotle" and it was amazing but not something I needed to dress up for.

Matt was in a tux and it looked like we were going to prom. I asked him why we had to dress up and he said you'll see.

Matts *POV

This date was going pretty well. We just ate and I was taking her to a special place I go every summer. It took about 2hrs to get there but it was worth it.

Valerie got out and her jaw dropped. "This is beautiful Matt" she said in awe. "I know I come here every summer"

The place I go to every summer is right along the beach but it's specially reserved for my family so it's only ours. I had dressed it up a bit so it looked prettier.

I grabbed her hand ad we walked out onto the beach. I had 2 towels laid down already as well as bathing suits in my truck. She laid down on one towel me on the other and we laid hand in hand looking at the stars.

"We don't have bathing suits" she says worried yet relaxed. "I brought some they're in my truck" I say back smiling. she looked at me and said "well what are we waiting for let's go in" She hopes up and runs to the truck and gets out bathing suits.

We were walking along the ocean hand in hand and it was just perfect. "You know I bet you're a slow runner" she says letting go of my hand and running. I laugh an run after her. I eventually caught her and I slung her over my shoulder.

Valerie's *POV

"MATTHEW LEE ESPINOSA, PUT ME DOWN" I say laughing and hitting his back. He stops and puts me down, with one hand on my lower back and one on my face he leaned in and kissed me. I kissed back and we made out for like 5 minutes.

I got home finally around 2 in the morning. I was so happy. This date was perfect. he made me feel safe, he made me feel like I could be myself. I still was optimistic about trusting him again but I did know I liked him.

Matt came over to my house the next day to give me my bathing suit. I let him in and we ate breakfast and talked and then in the middle of the conversation he just blurts out "I like you and this time I know I do. No maybes. I do." I just look at him in shock not knowing what to do.

I went and sat next to him and faced him. "I like you too. But what about your friends?" I finally manage to say. "I decided to stop with all that. But I need your help. This is gonna be tough for me" he says now looking at me.

"I'll always be here to help and support you." I say with a half smile. He just looks at me and smiles. This weekend has been absolutely perfect.
