Chapter 13:

Matts *POV

I was leaving tomorrow for Cali. I wanted to speak to Valerie before I left so I went over to her house.

*knock knock* Her dad came to the door and I was in total shock. "U-u-um is Valerie here?" I asked him. I'd never met him before so this was really awkward.

"I'm sorry son, she just left to go to the airport." he said with a straight face. "Where is she going?" I asked looking confused. "College" he said now sounding kinda sad.

With that I let out a sigh and said okay and left. Where was she going? I mean college but where?

*The next day*

I had all my stuff packed in the car and I was ready to go. I said goodbye to my family and my dad drove me to the airport.

When I got my stuff and I had boarded I was still only thinking of Valerie. I couldn't get her out of my head.

"Sir" I heard someone say behind me. I snapped out of my thoughts and turned "yes?"

"You're blocking the aisle please take your seat" the lady said gesturing to my seat. "Sorry" I said as I sat.

"This seat taken?" A man that looked to be about in his 40s asked me. "Uh I guess not" I said facing him.

"I can tell you were daydreaming, boy" he said in a hushed tone. "Uh yeah I guess. It's just..." I said not knowing where I was going with that. "It's just a girl, isn't it?"

"Yes, sir" I said looking kinda glum. "Well listen here. I don't know what girl it is nor do I know what happened. But from the looks of it, it seems like you screwed up, she left and now your going to college and don't get to explain to her" he said almost reading my mind.

"How'd you know that?" I asked confused. "I know this is hard to believe but I was a youngin' once too and that same thing happened to me" he said with a smirk.

Before I said anything he began taking. "Girls/women are sometimes hard to figure out, but us men are just the same. I know you're probably about on the verge of giving up, but if you give up remember one thing, She will move on. She will meet a man that fought/fights for her and you can't get her back. So unless you wanna see her in the arms of someone else I suggest you find her"

"I can't. Shes going to college God knows where. How would I fight if I can't be with her?"

"See you're giving up before you even try. Don't be a dick. Fight for her. Cause if y'all's love means anything you will fight for it. Let me ask you something son.. a man walks into a bar and asked the bartender for a glass of water, the bartender pulls out a 40 caliber handgun and shoots at him just missing the man by a few inches. The man puts a tip on the bar, says thank you an walks out. Why did he leave the tip and the thank you?" and with that he got up and left.

What does that even mean? I'm so confused right now it's not even funny.

Valerie's *POV

Yesterday when we landed, we went straight to the house we had bought. It was beautiful and big.

We got all our stuff in our rooms an began to decorate and what not. This morning out house was a mess but it's a little better now.

Thank god we won't be having company anytime soon.

"So have you talked to matt?" Marlise asked walking into the kitchen. "No. I haven't." I said with a stern look.

"I know, I know. You don't like talking about Matt. But you think about him all the time so it's time for you to speak." we said.

"I do not" I protested. "VALERIE YES YOU DO. I hear you mumbling things to yourself about him. You always have a glum look on your face. I know for a fact you think about him." She said walking out.

Do I really mumble things to myself about him? Gosh that's weird but okay.

I wish we could've talked before I left though. But we left so soon there wasn't enough time.

I started classes in 1 week so I had exactly 7 days to explore.
