No-one's Watching Us

That night in the room the girls and I spent almost all-night speaking and getting to know Lucy and Lydia. It went three 'o' clock before we decided to get some sleep, meaning I got roughly three and a half hours of sleep. Considering the fact that I didn't sleep the previous night and had only 3 and a half hours from that night, I was quite surprised that I didn't feel tired.

"You're some sort of weird superhuman," Jade said to me as we got dressed.
"I think I'm just past it," I said waving it off. I did feel slightly exhausted and my heart rate felt slightly higher than usual, but it wasn't anything too bad.
We woke up the rest of the girls and then went down to the dining room with to eat some breakfast. Jade being Jade, went straight for the teabags. I reached out for a bowl and decided to have some cereal. We sat down at a table near the front as Jed and Andre joined us.

"Hey girls," Jed said as he kissed Jade on the cheek. I smiled in response as I continued to devour my cereal.
"What are you guys doing today?" Jed asked.
"Well, teams Edwards, Reiss and Sabesan are camping tonight, I think," Jade said.
"Yeah," Andre agreed as Leigh, Jesy and Alex joined us. "Teams Edwards and Reiss are going on the longer hike today, camping tonight, then doing the short walk, rock climbing and abseiling tomorrow. Team Sabesan is doing the same but the other way around."
"So, what are Perham and Jackman doing today?" Alex asked, biting into some toast.
"We're going cave crawling first and then orienteering later and Jackman are doing it the other way around," I replied after putting my spoon down, having finished eating. "I think we're camping the tomorrow night."
"So, we won't see you two properly until you come back on day four?" Leigh asked sounding unhappy. I nodded sadly and shrugged, while Andre laughed at her.
"What's funny?" Harris asked as he finally came in. His hair was an absolute shamble, causing us all to burst out laughing making him even more confused.
"Babe you look lovely," Jesy snickered.
"Like what you see?" he smirked back at her before adding, "I didn't want to miss out on any food so I decided to fix my hair after I ate." As we all laughed, I got up to take my dishes to one of the sinks and washed it. Alex appeared by my side with his own bowl, now empty.
"You eat really fast," I said watching him as he smiled at me.
"So, I won't be seeing you until the fourth day," he said, leaning on the counter as I nodded. "Come with me."

He took my hand and dragged me outside with him where a handful of people were standing around on their phones trying to get a signal. We walked further down the field, down a small hill and sat at the bottom of it.
"I wish we were in the same group," he sighed, resting his head on my lap and looking up at me.
"Same here," I smiled, tangling my fingers in his hair.
"Imagine all the things you and I could get up to if we were camping together," he smirked waggling his eyebrows.
"Hmm," I replied as my smile grew wider, "sounds like so much fun." Alex sat up, not taking his eyes off of me as I whispered, "I don't think you could handle it."
"Is that a challenge, princess?" he said, looking at me huskily.
"Stop it," I smiled shyly. He pushed my hair out of my face and kissed the corner of my mouth. He rested his forehead against mine as he sighed again. My eyes searched his, and I was surprised to see disappointment in them.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"This was supposed to be the week where I convinced you to date me properly, and now we're not even going to see each other properly for almost 2 days," he said, moving even closer.

I didn't know what to say to make him feel better, because I was disappointed about that too. So instead, I shuffled forwards slightly and buried my head in his neck. Pulling me closer, he raked his hand through my hair as his other arm snaked around my waist.
"I hope no one is watching us," I chuckled.
"Don't worry Pezza, no one's watching us," he told me, as his grip on me grew tighter. I kissed the bottom of his neck, causing his to pull back slightly and look into my eyes. He opened his mouth as if he were about to say something but was cut off by people yelling, that it was time to come inside.
He rolled his eyes in annoyance making me laugh out loud. I kissed his cheek, as he pulled me up. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we started to walk back inside.
When we came back inside we all split off into our groups and went into different rooms in the building. Danielle, the Perham leader, lead us into the hallway and motioned for us to take a seat on the two sofas. She began by talking us through the morning activity and introducing us to the instructor, Dave. She then told us to put on some waterproofs from the centre's storage room as well as some wellington boots. It was difficult for us to find the correct sized but eventually we did.

I was the first to be ready to go as I waited by the van, I saw team Edwards coming in and out of the storage and the classroom next to it, as they hauled big camping rucksacks with them. Alex came out holding two bags in his hand as Caley followed closely behind him. His eyes fell on me and he looked panicked. I smiled at him warmly causing him to smile back in relief. Caley put her hand on his shoulder and told him to hurry up and come into the classroom. He nodded at her and smiled, walking inside.
Ignoring the weird feeling I felt inside, I turned to Andre and Lydia who were now stood next to me as we waited for the rest of our group. Once they had all got their waterproofs on, we got on the minibus and set off towards the caves. The girls sang songs at the top of our lungs, which annoyed the boys to the point that they decided to start yelling at the top of their lungs to drown out the sound.

When we got there, the instructor began walking up a path on a large hill, that was covered in rocks of all different sizes. One by one we followed him up the path being careful not to lose our footing and fall. When we arrived at the top, there was a small opening, that was just the right size for us to fit in one by one. Turning on the flashlights strapped to our heads, we squeezed through the opening and entered the cave.

As far as I could see it was a steep-ish climb down the cave. The instructor slowly started to climb down and speak his steps out to make sure we all got down safely. We made our way up and down the tunnel in the cave. There was a very tight squeeze at one point, just before the end of the tunnel and I began to panic. I hated tight spaces and I had to squeeze through.
My heart started pounding even faster than it was before and I started breathing faster. My palms became very sweaty as I began to fidget, watching the rest of the group squeeze through one by one. I had no idea why I felt so panicked as I usually wouldn't be as bad.

"Perrie," Andre said from behind me to grab my attention. "It's okay, it's not that tight, watch me." He walked in front of me and just about made it through.
"If I fit through, then you can definitely fit through," he assured me. It didn't work much, and I began to walk backwards. Not watching where I was going, I lost my footing and fell backwards.
"Easy," Luke said as he stopped me from actually hitting the floor and propping me back up. "You can do it Perrie, I'll be right behind you."
Realising it was the only way out of the cave, I slowly side stepped through, breathing very slowly. I shut my eyes and just kept praying for it to be over.

Finally, after what felt like years, I emerged on the other sized and let out a breath of relief. The rest of my team began clapping for me as Luke emerged behind me. Danielle smiled and told us all to carry on and get out of the cave so we could go and have lunch. My heart rate, for some reason, didn't return to normal.

When we arrived back at the centre, we returned all our waterproofs to the storage and then ate lunch with the Jackman team. They then went off to the caves as we headed to the back fields to do some orienteering.
"So guys, the ways this works is a bit different to what you might be expecting," Danielle said as we all sat around a picnic table in the 'Wifi field'. "We have been given a list of different things that are somewhere on this site and what we need to do is, get a picture with each of these things. If for any reason, we can't get any of these pictures, we should try to complete one of the consolation tasks."

We all halved the team and then halved the tasks so we could get them done quicker and amazingly didn't have to do any of the consolation tasks. When we all met back up at the table to share the photos to confirm that we got everything done, Danielle said, "I knew I had the best team, we're totally going to beat all the other teams."
"How do you know?" Aaron asked.
"Well, so far only our team and Jackman have done orienteering and they had to do four consolation tasks," Danielle told us, causing us all to cheer in happiness.

As we spent the rest of the evening and night just chilling and having fun, I still felt strangely uneasy. My heart raced as I felt strange feelings of warmth and cold taking over me.
