Can't Be The Best At Everything

Next morning, I woke up in my bed, with no idea how I got there. I looked around to see Leigh-Anne already up and on her phone. Jade was still in bed but still in her phone and Jesy was in the bathroom. Running a hand through my hair, I slowly sat up and wondered if one of the girls brought me back.

"Alex brought you back," Leigh said smiling. Of course he did, I thought to myself. "Did you two sort everything out?" I nodded in response as Jesy came out of the bathroom.
"So now I don't have to be mean to him anymore," she said to herself. I chuckled, climbed down the ladder to pick up my washbag and went into the bathroom. Once I was ready and had eaten breakfast, I went to find the wave leader to ask what I'd be doing. He was sat at a table outside talking to the other group leaders.
"Ah Perrie," he said when he saw me, "once the other groups have started off on their activities I'll take you to where Perham are doing their activity this morning. Are you feeling better?" I nodded and smiled, so he smiled back at me and continued talking to the group leaders.

"So," Alex said grinning widely, wrapping his arm around me. "Perham is doing rock climbing and abseiling today, yeah?"
I nodded in response as he continued, "well not to brag or anything but I climbed walls one, two and three easily right to the top and got about 3 quarters of the way to the top of wall 4, which is the hardest wall."
I raised an eyebrow at him, "bet I could climb to the top of all 4 walls."
"Are you challenging me?" He asked looking at me dangerously.
"Yes," I nodded firmly, "indeed I am."
"Well fine," he smirked, "£20 says you can't make it to the top of wall 4." He stuck out his hand for me to shake.
"You're on!"

There was a call for all the groups to meet their leader, so Alex kissed my cheek and walked to his group. I noticed Caley watching and smiled sweetly at her, causing her to roll her eyes and walk beside Alex. I think she thought it would make me mad, but why on earth would her simply walking with Alex make me mad? The very idea made me feel like laughing.
I walked back inside and sat in the dining room to wait for the wave leader to tell me it was time to go. He came into the room after about 15 minutes to get me. We sat in the van and it jerked to life. As we pulled out of the driveway, Alex looked through the classroom window and winked at me. I smiled and looked away.

When we pulled up at an empty looking space that had gravel all over the ground. It was surrounded by trees but there was no grass or flowers or anything of the sort. To the right from the entrance was a very tall, long wall, which looked like it had been split into sections. I approached the rest of my group as the wave leader parked the van. They were all stood towards the far end of the wall. As I neared them, they all turned to look at me with bright smiles.

"Hey Perrie!" Aaron called out. I smiled and waved before I was tackled by Lucy and Lydia.
"OH MY GOSH, FINALLY YOU'RE HERE!" Lydia screamed.
"WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" Lucy added with the same volume of voice. I laughed at their reactions.
"Careful with the volume girls," Danielle said, "you might cause an avalanche." Lucy and Lydia's smiled immediately dropped and they looked horrified. Danielle smirked and we all burst out laughing.
"She's joking!" Michelle face palmed, making us all laugh even harder. Lucy and Lydia laughed too but I could tell they looked relieved.

"So guys, these are the climbing walls," Danielle continued pointing to the first four sections. "As you go along from one to four, they get harder and harder to climb."
I looked at the first wall and it was clearly the easiest to climb, with so many places to hold on to. The second wall looked similar, with a few less ledges to hold on to but still seemed fairly straight forward. The third had a lot less ledges, looking a bit harder to climb. The fourth had barely anything to hold on to besides a few cracks and some very small ledges. It looked very difficult.
Alex said he had climbed all three and almost all the way up the fourth, meaning I had to climb all four in order to win the bet. Just looking at the walls made my heart race faster, which scared me.
When my heart raced fast, I started to worry about having another panic attack. Remembering to breath slowly and deeply, I reminded myself that I could take my time going up each wall and that I was going to be attached to a safety rope. Whilst we were putting on our safety equipment, I was trying to calm my heart. I was an outdoor kind of person so by remembering these small thoughts, I was able to calm my heart enough to be able to climb the walls confidently.
