We walk along the road in our groups, chatting to each other as we follow the teachers to the beach. Stopping at a very small beach, we go down the stairs and onto the sand. The teacher begins to talk about goodness knows what but I'm distracted by the scenery, and I don't listen.

In the distance I see the cliffs, covered in grass, sloping downward. The sea laps against the bottom of them, all along the bay. There are beautiful, white, castle-like buildings on the cliff making it look like a place from a fairy tale. The only thing spoiling it is the almost grey sky, which makes it look like it's going to rain. Stupid British weather.

Alex is equally taken away by the beauty of the scenery as he walks along the beach to take a panorama of it. Following his lead, I take out my phone and snap a quick picture of it too. When I turn around, I realise the students are walking back up the stairs and along the pavements again. I call Alex and signal him to come over so we can go.
We walk back up to the road and along the pavement towards the bigger beach where we're going to have lunch.

"Pezza did you sign up for that residential activity thing in the holidays?" Alex asks me as he walks by my side.

"NCS?" I clarify, "Yeah, I signed up for the second week of August, just like you said." He grins back at me before smirking.

"I wonder if the accommodations will be single-sex," he wonders aloud, winking at me.

"Alex," I hiss, looking around to make sure no one heard.

"I'm only kidding Pezza, donut worry," he jokes, making me laugh.

Then I stop laughing and look at him dead seriously, "I want a doughnut now."

Shaking his head, he comments, "Always hungry." I smile proudly at him and then he continues, "and you don't get fat." I stare at him incredulously and almost do a spit-take. "Don't you even start with the whole 'my thighs are so fat' shit," he points his finger at me before I even have the chance to speak.

"But they are!" I whine knowing full well that I'm about to be ignored.

"So? It's sexy," he winks, flicking his eyes down to my legs. "Guys love a bit of meat on their girls."

"Still," I mumble, with my eyes on the ground.

"Your body is perfect, okay, don't ever think any different."

I smile gratefully, as we start walking again, hoping what the teacher is talking about isn't important.
"Did you bring your reply slip back for the reward trip to Alton Towers?" I ask and he nods in reply. We start to talk about all the rides and plan out the whole day.

Our conversation is cut short as we arrive at the beach. People start to split off into their friendship groups just as the teacher instructs that he wants us to be back within an hour. I join Jade, Leigh and Jesy as we head down the beach slightly and then sit down on the sand to eat.
