Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me

That day I left school early, I couldn't take being stuck in the same room as him any longer. As soon as the lunch time bell rang, I walked straight out of the school doors, hiding in a group of year 13 students. When I got home, I changed out of my Christmas clothes and headed to my dad's house, which was on the other side of town.
I spent most of the holidays there, except the 24th, 25th and 26th. Staying cooped up in the guest room of my dad's house, I revised hard. I revised! Like with actual books and an actual plan. It was mainly to keep my mind occupied. My dad would probably drive around to Alex's house with a shot gun if he found out what was going on.
Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Just Kidding. Or am I?
If I wasn't revising, I was helping my stepmom in the kitchen, or just relaxing with my half-sister Caitlyn.

On the 24th I exchanged presents with them all and then headed back home to do Christmas with my mom and brother. I told my mom what happened over the phone, so she had loads of activities planned to keep me busy. She didn't tell Jonnie after I made her promise not to. It felt really nice to spend time with family.

On the 26th Aaron turned up on my doorstep and dragged me out of the house, taking me to a cafe for a bite to eat.  He quizzed me on my Alex predicament, made me explain every last detail, until I started to weep. All the hurt and emotion I had suppressed came rushing back and he held me as I cried. Complaining that he only brought me out to see me cry, I told him I wanted to go home but he pulled me back and told me that I needed to cry to get it all out. He asked me if I had spoken to Alex, to which I answered no. Then he asked if I wanted to speak to him and I didn't know what to reply. I had not been on my phone since the last day. When I left for my dad's house, I left my phone at my mum's house. On return, I went through my notifications, clearing the ones from Alex and replying to the messages from the girls.

I spent the rest of the holidays back at my dad's, watching all the movies airing on TV. We spent new year's together, watching the fireworks at midnight, doing sparklers and counting down the last 10 seconds. After New Year's Day, Caitlyn and I decided to go to CutIt, my stepmom's friends beauty salon. Caitlyn thought it was a good idea to change my hair a little. So I had the ends of my hair dyed blonde and kept me roots brown. My sister and the worker told me that leaving my roots brown really suited me.
The next day it was time for me to return home to my mum's, but I desperately wanted to stay with my dad. Away from all the stupid school drama. Only a few more months to go, I kept telling myself.

With that in mind I flicked my freshly styled hair back and strutted through the main entrance, on the first day back. I still hadn't spoken to Alex and I wasn't planning on it. As far as I was concerned, we were done. Seeing his face was going to hurt, but it was going to happen sooner or later. I was being strong, but I knew the second I saw him the strong facade was going to crumble, I just hoped I could hold it in long enough to get away from people staring.

"Oh my god," Leigh cried running up to me, "next time you plan on going to your dads, tell us."
"Yeah," Jade agreed hugging me, "I was so worried."
"I'm guessing the time away was helpful?" Jesy smiled, hugging me after Jade and I nodded. "Ready to talk about it?"
"At break time," I told them smiling half-heartedly. In all honesty, being back in school brought all the hurt of that morning back and I started to feel rubbish about myself again. Focus Perrie. Exams. Revision.
"Stay calm okay," Jade muttered to me, straightening up. I looked at her in confusion before my eyes landed on the answer.

There he was. Annoyingly looking as handsome as ever, walking towards me like he was on a mission. My breathing increased and my gaze dropped. Forcing myself to hold my ground, I looked back up at him and he spoke,
"Can we talk now?"
"Let's just get it over with," I replied quietly avoiding his eyes. I told the girls I'd see them later and then walked off, with Alex following behind. When I walked through the double doors leading to an empty corridor, I stopped and waited for him to catch up.
