{Patrick's POV}
Pete had parked our car in the driveway five minutes ago. He was just sitting there, gripping the steering wheel with a death grip.
Before we get any further, I should give you some background. We were sitting in my parent's driveway about to have dinner with them- for the first time. My mother was no worry, she loved everyone she met. My father was a different story... He wasn't outright homophobic but he didn't love the idea of two men(or women for that matter) together.
"Pete? Hey, we're going to be late if we don't get out of the car now." I said, trying to keep my voice very calm and sweet.
"Yeah yeah. I just don't want to lose you. You're too important to me Patrick." He whispered, finally letting go of the steering wheel.
"You are never, ever going to lose me. No matter what they say. Alright?" I told him, tears threatening to prick at my eyes from seeing him like this.
"Alright..." He repeated, opening his door. I followed suit, getting out and absentmindedly straightening my tie.
We walked to the door in silence, him gripping my hand until I knocked on the door. My mom opened it almost instantly, smiling proudly at us. My dad lingered behind her glaring at Pete like he was trying to decide what his deal was.
"Hey mom, sorry we were almost late, we took a wrong turn by accident." I greeted, standing awkwardly before her.
"Oh, that is certainly fine, sweetie! This must be that Pete you always talk about. It's nice to finally meet you, Mr. Wentz." My mom rambled, still standing in the doorway.
"You talk about me?" Pete whispered, a smiling hinting at his lips. I nodded and blushed slightly, shifting my weight from one foot to the other.
"Um... can we come in?" I asked, laughing as my mom realized we were just standing there.
"Of course! It will be another 20 or so minutes before dinner's ready, so feel free to show Mr. Wentz around." She told me, closing the door behind us.
"Pete's fine, Mrs. Stump..." Pete spoke, looking rather awkward.
"Ok, Pete. We'll see you two in 20 minutes?"
"See ya," I replied, walking off with Pete.
We walked into our lounge, Pete admiring all the pictures of me and my siblings. He stopped at an old photo of me at my second-grade talent show, smiling.
"You were such a cute kid!! You were almost, if not as cute, as you are now!" Pete exclaimed, pointing at that picture. I blushed and tried to pull him away from them.
"Come on Pete! Let's go see my room? It's better than all of this stuff! You can see where I grew up, considering I stayed in my room literally 3/4 of my childhood." I told him, grabbing his arm. I hated looking at those pictures. I was such a weird kid.
"Finneeee." He whined, following me up the stairs.
When we walked into my room, I stayed in the doorway, letting Pete go ahead and look around. He stood in one spot, turning around to see the whole room. He couldn't stop smiling.
"Oh my lord! You, like, actually lived here?!" He laughed, turning back towards me.
"Of course I lived here Pete, what do you think my parents did, broke into someone's house for the dinner?" I replied, rolling eyes and walking into the room, sitting on the bed beside where Pete had just sat.
