As I stepped off the plane, the warm sun coated my back with an angelic touch. I was excited to start my training and to fight, but I was scared for the future. For me. For my team. For Lucas. And his past.
Whatever happed to Lucas, I wanted to know about it. I wanted him to open up to me. A part of me liked him. Not like love. Not romance or anything right now. Just a connection. I wasn't sure how he felt, but I hoped it was along the same lines as me.
"Hey," Lucas whispered, sidling up next to me. "How about the first chance we get, we meet up somewhere?"
"Oh," I gasped. "I don't know. We will probably be busy, ya know?"
He shook his head. "Never busy enough for you." He smirked at me.
"Yeah, right." I playfully slapped his arm. "Besides, you never even considered that maybe it will be me too busy for you."
He stepped back, feigning shock. A few seconds later, his playful smirk was back on his face. "Well, I think I have to go. Talk later."
I nodded, then turned back to my "team." I smiled at them all. "Well, girls. Looks like we are in this adventure together. For better or worse."
The girls nodded in agreement and we set off to find our bunks. Julie walked with me. "Looks like you and Lucas are getting cozy with each other."
"Why do you have to say it like that?" I asked, slightly frustrated.
She smiled, finding my anger amusing. "They always say 'say it like it is.'"
"Hey, girl." I punched her arm. "It's not like that. And besides, I don't have time foe boys."
She rolled her eyes, and began to walk away. Then she turned and smiled over her shoulder. "You can always find time for true love."
