"So?" Julie asked. "How was it? Some nice private time with Captain Cozy?" She smiled and nudged my shoulder.
I shook my head at her. "No. It wasn't like that. Just stop, please."
"Why? What happened?" Julie asked, shocked.
I frowned. "Back home I have a boyfriend. And I like Lucas. As a friend. I don't want things to be ruined if we, um, get together and then, you know, it doesn't work out. I just want to be friends. Cut the drama, you know?"
She shook her head at me. "Emily, what you don't understand is that you're never going to see your boyfriend again. You're stuck here. To fight or die. So, just give up on him. Go for Lucas. Explain to him that you like him but don't want your friendship to be broken. He probably just wants to be friends too, ya know?" She tried to make me feel better. But what she didn't know was that he tried to kiss me. And friends don't kiss. But I didn't want to tell her that. I didn't want to make any rumors or drama that would mess up any part of Lucas's life. Because, deep down somewhere, I liked Lucas. As more than a friend.
