Lucas and I walked together towards the plane with our groups following behind. Occasionally, he would say something to me, but I only would ever shrug, nod, or shake my head. It was all too much. Lucas. The plane. My future. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I figured I was going to die, but I also thought that at least I could learn more about myself. And maybe, just maybe, I could survive. Flying and invisibility. That was some pretty great stuff, but just how great was it? I would soon find out.
Once we boarded the plane, Lucas and I split up. He and the guys went to the back of the plane. My girl group and I went to the front. Once seated, I turned behind to face my group. "Why don't we go around and say names?" I asked.
One girl nodded. "I'll start!" She said with a bright and cheery smile. "My name is Alexis."
A bunch of names I wouldn't remember rattled around the circle and then it was my turn. "My name is Emily, but most people call me Em. I guess I am the leader. I only got here two days ago." They all gasped.
Then, the girls finished off their names and we all settled back into our seats for the plane ride. I turned to the girl next to me. Her name was Julie. "What are your powers?" I asked her. "I can fly and become invisible."
She smiled. "I can transport, shoot fire from my hands, and read minds."
"Then can't you just transport back home?" I asked her.
She shook her head. "I don't know how."
"Well, you're going to learn. And then, maybe you can?" I smiled.
She shrugged. "I guess. But I probably won't want to."
"Why not?" I asked. What could be so bad that she would rather be dead?
"I hate my parents." She sighed. "And they hate me. You know, not everyone's home life is perfect."
"I know." I shrugged. "Mine isn't either."
She laughed. "Yours probably isn't near as bad as Lucas's though."
