Breakfast was okay. It tasted like plain potatoes. Then, Rori showed me around the square. "I don't have to work today because I will show you the different jobs."
"Okay. I guess that's good." I smiled.
"Yeah, okay. Well, here's the farm." She showed me all the different jobs working with the animals. The only jobs that were open were being another feather girl, or a pig slopper. Not great jobs. They seemed extremely boring.
She smiled. "You could work with me."
"Depeneds what jobs there are." I frowned. "They seem boring here at the farm."
She shrugged. "Yeah, but it is hard. Whenever there is a call, we have to go help butcher the animals."
"Oh. Ew!" I shook myself. "Gross. What other jobs are there?"
She led me to the industrial buildings. "Here are the jobs for people that like hard work. Dirty work. You have to be really tough to work here."
"Probably not for me." I shrugged. We moved on to the other jobs around the town square. Soon, it was time for lunch. Rori handed me a piece of paper.
"You have to fill out three jobs that you might want. Then, you turn this into the office. They assign you with a job that you will start the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow, we celebrate. For the war veterans. The people going to fight. There is a ceremony and everything."
I nodded. "Okay. Well, I guess I will do that after lunch."
"Yes. Then, they will test you with your requirements and fit you with a job." Rori laughed. "I hate the Head. He is such a jerk."
"Oh?"
Rori laughed. "He's the administrator. Everybody hates him."
"Ahh, well. My lucky day, then. I get to meet him." I laughed.
--3 hours later--
The Head who was testing me had come to his conclusion. "Emily, your new job will be...
A Newsfly!"
