"W-what? What do you mean by that?" I asked her, confused.
She shrugged. "Maybe you should ask him. It isn't my story to tell. If he opens up to you about it, you'll know he wants to be friends with you!"
I frowned and shook my head. "Forget I ever asked. I don't want to force him to tell me. He probably wouldn't even if I asked." I smiled sadly. "Anyways, what do you think about all this Army stuff?"
She shrugged again. "Before they found out about my powers, my sister was fighting for the 'AP Army.' I would sometimes go into training with her on weekends. And whenever she was traveling with the Army, she would always video call me. I saw what the Army life was like."
"And?" I questioned, hoping she wouldn't think that I was prying too much.
She smiled. "I liked it. Busy, active, lots of courage you need. I had plans to join. But then," she frowned. "They took me here."
I smiled grimly. "Yeah, but I don't see why this place is so bad. The camp, I mean."
Julie shook her head. "You weren't there long enough to see the stress it puts on people. The worst thing for someone with Abilities is boredom."
"Oh. I see," I frowned. "But I was excited for my job."
"What were you going to be?" She asked.
I smiled, remembering the joy I had felt after learning about what I was going to be. "A messanger and spy." I frowned. "But, not anymore."
"The problem with that job is that no one has messges to deliver." She frowned. "And there are a lot of people with that job, so you would never had much to do. All your jobs would be split between however many people are with you in that job."
"Oh." I sighed. "Then I guess this should be good. For us. Exciting."
"Until we die." She frowned.
"But we won't. We can all survive together." I smiled, trying to keep the team's hopes up. If the team lost hope, we wouldn't survive. "There have been survivors, right?"
She nodded. "But I heard that if you survive the Wars, The Head will kill you himself."
"What? He can't do that!" I shouted, outraged.
She sighed. "Emily, you just don't understand. He can do anything he wants. And he will."
"But-" I argued.
"This is just a way to weed out us super people. Soon, we'll all be dead."
