if there are any writers here, i wish  you a wonderful year, in terms of writing.

also, on a side note, thank you for all the wonderful ship names that you sent in! it all boiled down to two names: 'Delington' by heartraves and 'Parkadel' by shugbug.

congratulations, my loves. I've decided to give you both the gift, and it will include having your name, or a name that you suggest for two characters in the book!

the official ship name will be Delington, and the ship is now set to sail!

happy reading!

love,

aspir.

Parker made sure to avoid sniffing, coughing or sneezing in front of his mom the next morning.

He could not put another evening with Delilah at stake. A stupid fever, was not going to stop him from meeting her today.

The bus slowly rolled into Lark Lane, as Parker was playing with a little toddler, who was seated on one of the seats in the back.

It had slipped from his mind that they were at Lark Lane, and he continued to shed his attention on the toddler.

Suddenly, there was a light tap on his shoulder, and he turned around only to be met with a sight that twisted his insides.

A horrible shiver glossed his spine, and he took a step back after he caught sight of the singe marks below Delilah's collarbones.

He looked up at her, his mouth open in shock, only to find her this close from breaking. Her chest was heaving, like she'd just ran all the way to the bus stand, and Parker couldn't help but feel like it was somehow his fault.

"Delilah..." he breathed, painfully. Every breath he took in produced a sharp cutting pain in the side of his stomach, until he just didn't want to breathe no more.

It was black and brown, crusted with her dried up blood. The mark was ugly and disgusting, like it had no business to adorn her body.

"Delilah," and with that, he rushed forward, and with no inhibition, he pulled her onto him.

However, she pulled back, and put her hands on the fabric of his coat to create distance. She looked up at him, and he could see the tears forming within her eyes. "Parker," she said, her voice sounding infinitesimally small. "Why didn't you come yesterday?"

"Delilah," Parker said, as he made to envelop her again. However, she firmly pushed back and caught ahold of his coat within her hands.

She pulled the fabric lightly, and looked up at him with the most forlorn look. "No. Why didn't you come yesterday? I came in and found someone else, and he wasn't you, and - and - " she broke off at that, floundering for the right words to use. "I thought you weren't going to come anymore, I - I was scared that - "

"Delilah - "

"No!" she exclaimed, with a falter in her voice. "Don't do that again. Don't leave me like that, don't - " her voice broke again, and Parker stepped forward, with his arms slightly outstretched.

Delilah sniffed once, and leaned into his arms.

The moment he slid his arms around her waist, she eased up and let herself to be soaked in by him.

(her heart beat was erratic and so, he held her in his arms until it settled down)
