❝OH WHAT FUN.❞
_____________________Parker Addington had a few aces up his sleeves.
It was Christmas Eve after all, and since the Christmas spirits were very up in the air, he decided to do something special for Delilah.
So when she stepped into the bus at Lark Lane that day, Parker was positively bouncing on the balls of his feet.
"Delilah, Delilah, Delilah. It's Christmas tomorrow!" he said, excitedly as he held both her hands, and jiggled them lightly.
Parker could not contain his excitement, and truth be told he was always excited about Christmas. Right from when he was a little toddler, Christmas time was always the best time of the year. And this year, seemed to top it all off.
"Yes, you goof," she said. She gave him a dizzyingly bright smile, and slid a hand onto his cheek. "Look at you getting me all excited about Christmas!"
"Mission accomplished," he said, with a cheeky grin. He removed her hand from his cheek and lead them to their seat.
Once they had sat down, Delilah started talking about this new scarf tying method that she'd picked up off the internet.
She promptly went to work by untying, and then retying Parker's scarf.
"So this bit goes..." She bit her lip in deep thought. "...here. And one final tug," she pulled the scarf, and it somehow ended up on the verge of choking Parker. " - oh shit! I'm so sorry," she said, in panic as she frantically removed the scarf from his neck.
"Delilah..." Parker rasped, as he held up a hand to stop her. "I think the current style is fine."
Delilah sighed in frustration, and slumped back against the seat. "Fine."
"But, thanks," he said, as he nudged her shoulder to loosen her up.
"For choking you?" she deadpanned in mock anger.
"For wanting to try it on me."
She looked away from the window, into his eyes and her voice was softer this time. "Who else would I tie it onto?"
"Yeah I know," he said, before quickly changing the topic. "Delilah, do you have a curfew? A specific time to be back at home?"
Her eyes twinkled.
"No."
"So what do you think about staying with me in the bus for a little while longer today, after service?"
She smiled giddily. "I'd love to."
And so they were both talking late into the evening. The bus had gone all the way to Lambroke, and then to the bus terminus where the buses would be kept until the morning service started again.
Along the journey, the passengers trickled out, all of them wishing Parker and Delilah a very merry Christmas.
And Delilah found herself wishing them back as well.
The crowd had now thinned down to Pickles, Delilah and Parker alone.
Pickles killed the engine once they reached the quiet terminus.
He turned back to look at Delilah and Parker with a knowing smile. They were huddled together and talking about something.
And it was beautiful, because they looked like they were lightyears away, from the rest of the world.
"Bless them," he muttered under his breath as he walked towards them. "Parker!" Pickles said, as he threw the bus keys to him. "Don't forget to lock it up properly. Merry Christmas to the both of you."
Once Pickles had left the bus, Delilah snuggled closer to Parker, as it was getting too cold.
"So what are we doing?" She asked, rubbing her face on his soft coat.
"Christmas; the Addington's style."
