Delilah's singe mark has faded out a little, albeit it was still very visible.

(again, Parker could almost hear the sound of his heart cracking at the sight of it)

"So, she's fine now?" Parker asked Delilah, as they sat down at their usual seat.

"Well, she was cooped up in her room all morning, so that was nice," Delilah said with a small laugh.

How she managed to laugh in such morbid situations, boggled his mind.

But he was glad for it, because everytime she laughed, there was this swooping sensation that made his head feel a little lighter.

"You don't deserve this, one bit, you know?" Parker said, as he looked at her earnestly.

"I know." Delilah tucked a stray lock of her blonde hair behind her ear. "No one does."

Parker made sure to never utter a word against her mother, for he knew that Delilah still loved her with every fiber of her being.

The only thing Parker could do, was make sure that she felt as comfortable as possible within this bus.

"Delilah, I've been meaning to ask you..." Parker trailed off as a sudden thought struck his mind.

"What?" she asked at once.

Parker's cheeks burned up before he could even start. He looked down at his lap, and began, "remember that day when you, um, you - "

However he was cut off when Delilah hooked a finger under his chin, and tilted it up.

He turned to look at her as his heart skipped multiple beats, at that action.

"I like looking at your eyes when you speak," she said, with a teasing smile.

Parker laughed shyly and ran a hand through his hair.

Delilah waited for him to speak expectantly.

"So, remember that day when you said that you knew me? And you just stated a bunch of facts about me? Like the kind of notebooks I used and - "

"Yeah, yeah, I remember." She didn't look shy or bashful for knowing so much about him. Instead, if Parker dared to say it, she looked - proud.

"Um, well. How did you know so much about me?" Parker asked.

Delilah smiled and leaned back against the seat of the bus.

"What do you think of the stars, Parker?" Delilah began.

Parker frowned in confusion. "The stars?"

"Yes. What do you think of them?"

"Well um..." He thought for a moment, with his lips pursed. "I think they're very magical? I think..." he trailed off unsurely. "I actually don't know Delilah. They're very far away from us."

Delilah laughed again at that. "Well, Parker Addington. You were a star to me. One that wasn't lightyears apart." She smiled softly and pulled the sleeves of her sweater down. "You fascinated me, the way nothing else had. And so I didn't even try hard to notice everything about you. It just, sort of easily got imprinted in my mind."

Parker was at a loss for words, and it didn't help that he usually wasn't a wordsmith.

His mind fumbled with words to use, and he tried very hard to come up with a sentence that made sense.

"You smell of almonds."

Delilah stared at him for a second before she burst out laughing.

Parker's cheeks furiously burned up and dipped his head down in embarrassment.

There would never be a time when he would be completely confident to talk with Delilah Fitch.

"See? Thats exactly what I meant. Who even says stuff like that?" She continued to laugh. "But it's only because I'm wearing that perfume you got me."

Parker mentally chided himself for his slip, and put his head between his hands.

However, he immediately felt her hand on his shoulder.

The lilting sound of her laugh had waned away now, and her voice was soft.

"You're a fascination, Parker Addington."
