Chapter 18
Lightningfrost took a step forward. There was water as far and her blue eyes could see. Golden sands a stones replaced the lush green grass. Large white birds bobbed in the water.
"What do you think?" Hawksoul asked walking up to her side. He breathed in deeply let our a long breathe.
"What do you hunt?" She shouted over the waves.
"Crabs, shell fish, seagulls and fish. But to get the fish we have to hunt in calmer waters" he said. The large white birds must be seagulls. She nodded. They walked across the sand. There were large rocked mountains in the distance, the beaches were clear of all twolegs and a forest wasn't far away. Hawksoul stopped and flicked his tail to some paw steps in the sand.
"OceanClan patrol?" She asked. He nodded.
They continued to walk along the beach. The sunlight was still blocked by the clouds and the waves were slightly ruff. Small lines of seaweed were on the sand. It seemed peaceful except for the wind what left grains of sand in her thick pelt.
They continued to walk down the beach, the salty wind was making Lightningfrosts paws and pelt feel funny. Hawksoul stopped and scanned the area. He tasted the air.
"Get down!" He hissed pushing her behind a rock. They both dropped into a crouch. She couldn't hear anything accept for the crying of the gulls and the waves.
"What is it?" She whispered.
"OceanClan patrol" he said twitching his whiskers. She then heard paw steps. Three cats raced past, sand covered their fur. Then one of them stopped and looked at the two warriors. She let out a yowl and the patrol raced back.
"Who are- wait? Hawksoul? Your banished!" The cat that yowled snarled.
"I am Pinkpaw, but I must speak with Vineheart" He said. The she-cat lashed her tail.
"Its Pinknose" she said through gritted teeth. Hawksoul dipped his head. An apprentice stepped behind her obviously her apprentice.
"You must leave, and take your," a deep voice said studying Lightningfrost "friend with you." She looked at the large tom.
"Not until we have spoken to Saltstar" Hawksoul growled. Lightningfrost decided to let Hawksoul do all the talking. She kept looking at the apprentice, he seemed almost scared, not of her but Hawksoul. What did he do to get banished from OceanClan?.
"Why does she need to go?" Pinknose stated flicking her tail at Lightningfrost.
"She has a name" Lightningfrost growled. Hawksoul smiled.
"Anyway," Pinknose continued "even if you go to see Vineheart Saltstar doesn't want you near the clan" she said with a smile.
"Take me to her and I can sort this out" he said. Pinknose looked at the large tom. He narrowed his grey eyes.
"Fine" he growled. He reminded her of Shadestar. Her heart wrenched. She missed the DarkClan leader more then she thought, her clan mates to. The patrol of cats charge across the beach, Pinknose in the lead.
They came to a cave. The cats appeared in, it was beautiful. Pure blue water was on the bottom, you could see the sandy, rocky bottom and glistening white crystals hung over them.
"Please tell me you can swim?" Pinknose said turning to Lightningfrost who snarled and nodded. The cats walked into the water, Lightningfrost followed last. The water was warm, but it stung the scar that ran through her eye. She turned to look at the others. The sand washed off their pelts. Pinknose was a grey tabby with a bright pink nose. Her apprentice was a grey tabby tom and the other male was pure black. Then there was a a pile of rocks the other side. The cats climbed up it. Lightningfrost shook her pelt. And followed the cats. The cave came to an opening, they walked out of the cave into a large ring of tall rocks. A cat was laying outside what looked like the elders dan in the warm sand.
