Chapter 12

Lightningfrost slowly opened her eyes. she let out a cough and a sneeze as dust caught her throat. Roots hung over her head and a worm wriggled near her. She had to sleep in abandoned badger den as she couldn't find another tree as the trees got thinner. She lifted her head up and looked around the den. Deep gashes were in the light brown soil, on the side of the den walls from were the badger dug out the den. She let out a yawn, her sharp, white pointed teeth glittering in the sunlight what seeped into the den. She stood up and walked out of the den. A cool breeze cooled her down, and helped blow the dirt away. She shook her pelt down and stretched her limbs. She then sat down and looked at the forest what laid out before her. Tall, thin birch trees loomed over her sending bright pink leaves drifting down to the soft lush, grass below. She licked he back of her back.

A bush let out a loud rustle. She snapped her head up and narrowed her beautiful blue eyes. A rowan bush rustled vigorously. She slowly stalked to wards it. Lifting her head to see if she could see anything. Then the green eyes appeared, they were wide. They went in panic but Lightningfrost leapt inside the bush. She couldn't see but she was wrestling a ball of fur. She tumbled out of the bush. She was now on top of the creature, she hissed and looked down to see a cute brown tabby tom. His eyes were wide.

"Okay! Okay! You win!" He said trying to get up. Lightningfrost was shocked how he didn't put up a fight. She slowly got off him and looked at him. He stood up. He had a very muscular frame, brown tabby pelt with two black paws, black patch on his back, a black tipped tail and bright, emerald green eyes. He looked her eyes, his ears went red, he shuffled his broad shoulders.

A fox barked, she turned her head. Suddenly something crashed into her. She wriggled and turned to see the tom on her. He gave her a cute grin.

"Got ya!" He said in amusement. She narrowed her eyes. He is playing a game?!

"Get off!" She snarled. He shrank into his pelt and back off. She growled at him and shook her pelt down. Then it hit her why she pounced on him. "Why are you following me!" She shouted lashing her tail.

"I'm not! I just thought you seemed interesting." He mumbled looking at his paws.

"Right uh-huh" she growled. He looked at her, he flashed her a cute smile.

"What's your name?" He asked changing the subject.

"Lightningfrost" she said lifting her head high. She gave her white chest a couple of licks.

"Wait your a clan cat? What clan are you from?" He asked quickly.

"I'm from DarkClan" she answered. He twitched his whiskers.

"I'm Hawksoul" he chirped. He scratched his ear with his muscular back leg.

"What clan are you from?" Lightningfrost now questioned him. He froze, his eyes full of sadness.

"OceanClan, well I was" he sighed. She slowly nodded her head and walked off. Hawksoul bounded after her. "Wait! Were are you going?" He asked. She stopped and looked at him.

"To a mountain" she said in a low growl

"You're going the wrong way, its that way" he flicked his tail towards the sun. She dipped her head in thanks and walked quicker in the direction he said.

"Why are you going to a mountain?" He asked walking next to her. She unsheathed her claws trying to control her anger.

"StarClan want me to" she said through gritted teeth. Hawksoul walked quicker.

"Ohhh, can I come?" He asked with hope in her voice, she rolled her eyes.

"Why?!" She growled. He flinched and stopped walking she turned to look at him. He seemed down, his tail dropped and his green eyes dull.

"I have no one else, I have been alone for so long" he said sadly he looked at his pawms. Lightningfrost felt a pang of guilt for the tabby tom.

"You can come with me, but once I get to the mountain you have to leave" she sighed. He eyes lit up, he jumped up and down.

"Thank you! I won't let you down!" He said.

They came to a strong tree. The two warriors leapt up it and found a branch they could both sleep on.

" I will go and hunt" Hawksoul said. He then jumped down from the tree and bounded off. She watched him go. The moon was bright in the sky, the clans would have had the gathering by now.

A few heart beats later Hawksoul came back with two black birds. He bunched his muscles and jumped up the tree.

"There you go!" He said happily giving her a bird. Lightningfrost dipped her head in thanks. She plucked its feathers and ate her fill. Once they were both done they groomed their pelts. Lightningfrost licked the back of her pelt but she couldn't reach a spot. Hawksould leant forward and licked it for her. She flashed him a looked and he stopped and went back to grooming himself. "Why are you going to a mountain?" He asked again.

"StarClan told me to go to the Mountain Of Secrets" she sighed. Hawksoul looked at her wide eyed

"An elder called Vineheart in my old clans used to tell storys about that mountain!" He said

"Really? I must speak with her" Lightningfrost said. Hawksoul looked hesitant, he flicked his tail.

"I will try to get you to speak with her but Saltstar doesn't like outsiders" he said quietly. Lightningfrost grinned.

"I will persuade her around" she growled with a grin. She rested her head on her paws and drifted to sleep.
