Chapter 33
Lightningfrost awoke to the rays of the evening sunlight. She laid there for a moment watching the orange sun slowing sink into oblivion. Bird calls slowly died away as they settled in their nests for the night. Hawksouls soft snoring echoed around the small den making the evening all the more peaceful. Lightningfrost forgot about the prophecy and just thought what it would be like to be a normal warrior; to live your life by the warrior code and not something StarClan had planned for you, to have kits. Kits. Her mind wondered to the thought of her with a few bundles of fur snuggled into her with Hawksoul behind her. She bit back a purr of joy at the thought. Something then caught her eye distracting her from her thoughts, just outside the den was a flicker of silver light. Cautiously she cranked her head to get a better look, the light vanished. Her blue gaze hardened. Carefully she got to her paws being careful not to wake Hawksoul. She crept towards the mouth of the den, she stopped dead in her tracks as the snoring stopped. Slowly, she turned around. The tom rolled on his back revealing his white under bellie, his four paws in the air. Lightningfrost tried to hold back a mew of amusement. She twitched her whiskers and walked out of the den. The sun was still in the sky caring deep orange, glowing beams across the mountain. She looked to her left. On a rock not far from her sat a silver transparent cat. Strongpaw. The young tom sat there looking at the setting sun. Lightningfrost trotted towards him, she sat down next to him and looked at the sky. The two litter mates sat there in silence until Lightningfrost spoke.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" She said softly. Strongpaw looked at her, she kept her gaze on the sky.
"It is, wish I could witness this every day" he said. There was another brief moment of silence. Lightningfrost looked at her brother, he looked at her. His flame colored eyes burned into her.
"Why are you here Strongpaw?" She asked him.
"Aren't you happy to see your brother?" He grinned chuckling. She turned away to look at the sky.
"Why are you here Strongpaw?" She asked once again more firmly this time. Strongpaw narrowed his eyes at her. She looked at him.
"You need to leave for the mountain now" he commanded.
"What name of StarClan?" A voice gasped, both cats snapped their heads towards the den. Hawksoul stood there, his fur slightly ruffled. "Who is he?! Why is a cat from StarClan here?!"Hawksoul growled walking up to the two cats.
"This is my brother, Strongpaw" Lightningfrost explained to Hawksoul about Strongpaw.
"So we need to leave now?" Hawksoul said, the tom still seemed unsure of Strongpaw. Strongpaw confirmed it with a nod.
"Why? Why now?" Lightningfrost asked curiously. Strongpaw shrugged.
"I don't know" he lied. She could tell he was lying. He avoided her blue gaze.
"Let's get going then!" Hawksoul said excitedly jumping to his paws. Lightningfrost stretched out all four limbs before standing to her paws. Before the two cats left she turned around to Strongpaw who sat there watching them.
"What's happening with the clans?" She asked him. The tom looked hesitant but answered the question.
"Foxes have invaded the territories, the clans have come together to fight them off" he muttered. She looked at him in disbelief, while she was climbing up a mountain, her clan mates were battling foxes.
"Has anyone died?" She asked quickly, the tom looked to the sky.
"I can't say anything, and you must leave" he said dryly. Lightningfrost nodded, the three cats said their goodbyes then Lightningfrost and Hawksoul continued the journey up to the mountain.
