(A/N: Was originally written in Candace's point of view but I haven't done Niall's POV in a while so I changed it. :) Enjoy!)

                  -Niall Horan's Point of View-

"Niall." Candace took a deep breath. I bit my lip in anticipation of what she would say. I had just put the promise ring on her finger and her first expression wasn't one I had expected.

Now she was shaking her head. What did that mean...?

"I can't marry you. I mean... I'd love to but I can't." Marry? What the-?

Candace thought it was an engagement ring.

I started to laugh and reassure her it was a promise ring and that I wasn't proposing but I stopped shortly. Why couldn't she marry me?

"Why not?" I asked. My lips still tingled from just kissing her cheek. Was she aware of how she made me feel?

"I'm eighteen Niall. Do you know what people will think of us?''

"Why does it matter what people think? I love you and you love me. If were happy together then what right do they have to say anything against us?" I was getting upset now. Did she really care about other peoples opinions enough that she wouldn't marry me?!

"I don't care! I'm only looking out for your career!" Candace was almost shouting now. She had one of the shortest tempers and this probably wasn't the best thing to do when all of the lads were asleep.

"How would marrying the love of my life affect my career?!"

"Millions of fans who are in love with you would probably hate you for it. Everyone would think you got me pregnant and we got hitched just so it was okay."

"We would prove them wrong when you didn't get a round stomach." I argued. Eventually, I would tell her it was a promise ring but we had to get past this first.

"They'd think I got an abortion. That's even worse." She just always had to find a way to look on the bad side of things.

"No, Candace. You're jumping to conclusions. No one-"

"Niall. I can't marry you. I'm sorry." Candace cut me off. I noticed her slip the ring off of her finger. She opened my hand up and sat it in my palm before curling my fingers around it.

I sat in shock, staring at the bed sheet beside her. She leaned forward and pecked my lips, making butterflies flutter in the pit of my stomach, and then she got up quietly and left my room.

Go after her, idiot! She doesn't know it's a promise ring! Go after her!

But I couldn't. Something kept me rooted in spot. Now where did Candace and I stand...?

(A/N: Hated writing this... Ugh. So much drama between the two! Sorry it's so short, I'm in a hurry. The next chapter shall be longer!! <3)
