Ch. 19
“Get up sleepy-head!” my sister Lauren tells me as she shakes me. My eyelids shoot open.
“What happened?” I ask in a sleepy voice.
“No, today’s your surgery. Mom told me to wake you up”
Great. It’s February 20.
“Wake up!!” she screams once again.
I pull myself up to a sitting position and slide out groggily of my bed. I take a look at myself in the mirror. My brown hair is messed up and my huge eyes looked like they were about to pop out of my head. I was pretty pale looking, probably because I was scared. I bent over to my dresser and picked out a pair of my black, cheer sweatpants and I pulled out a white, short sleeved top. I took the brush out from my bathroom drawer, brushed my hair, and threw on some mascara. I gave one last glance at myself in the mirror. I could do this. The door slowly creaked open and my sister’s head popped up again. “By the way, you have five visitors.”
With that, I ran downstairs as quickly as I could. Air was blowing up against my face. I almost tripped a couple of times but you know.
“Olivia,” Niall whispered as he ran towards me. I expected this to be kinda like a reunited video, where the people run into each other and hug. Instead me and Niall collided, and we both fell over. After realizing what just happened, we all burst with laughter. Niall pulled me up and gave me a hug. “Mornin’ love!” he said with his cute accent that instantly sent chills down my spine. I missed him alright.
“You’ll do fine today babe!” Louis told me.
“Yeah, no more cancer for you,” Liam said poking my rib.
“Thanks, I hope not.”
“Olivia! Come on! We need to go!”
Niall looked at me. “Yes, we’re coming with you, what do you think.”
I smiled and nodded as we made our way outside. Snow fell lightly from the sky as cold wind tossed my hair around. It was about an hour drive to the hospital where my procedure would take place. “It’s ok,” Niall said. I was snuggling my head up in his shoulder and he was stroking my hair, undoing the knots. Apparently, I fell asleep on Niall’s shoulders and he fell asleep on my head for some while. I discovered this when I woke up, Harry was looking at his pictures and showing them to Niall. He posted them to twitter and said “Look at the sleeping angels.”
We arrived at the hospital in about 15 minutes after we had awoken. We all piled out of the car, and of course, we were mobbed by fans. It felt weird having complete strangers know my name. The boys stopped and took pictures. Niall grabbed my hand as the crowd became bigger and bigger and we ran inside. “LOVE YOU OLIVIA! YOU”LL DO FINE! SEE YOU SOON LOVE!” Liam shouted from the crowd. I smiled. Niall looked down at me, his eyes were draining color. Up close, he looked extremely tired, bags formed under his eyes.
“You ok?” I asked him.
He nodded no and hugged me.
“I’ll be ok, I’ll be better after this surgery! Don’t be scared,” I said, biting back tears. My eyes stung. Truth is, I’m so scared. I don't want to do this. This is my first surgery. When we sat down, I put my legs on Niall’s until the doctor came. “Olivia. Right this way.” I got up as calmly as I could, as my legs were quite wobbly. I shot one last glance back at Niall as my mom gave me a kiss on my head. “Nothing to worry about. Here, lay down,” they told me.
Before I knew it, all I saw was blackness. They knocked me out. I really wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn’t. For little flabs of skin, they were heavy. I guess I’ll just wait...
