Aburano Koji Incident

An interal dispute among the Shinsengumi that resulted in the deaths of Itou and several of his men. / 1867. An incident involving the Shinsengumi's attack on the Guardians of the Imperial Tomb. The altter included ex-Shinsengumi members.

Aizu Domain Residence

A Buddhist temple in Kyoto used as the base for the Aizu Domain. The Shinsengumi rented a portion of the Konkaikomyo in Kurotani.

Aizu Domain

One if Japan's more influential clans. They were related by blood to the Tokugawa clan, and were put in charge of the office of the Kyoto Military Commissioner.

Akebonotei Incident

An incident where patrolling Shinsengumi performed an arrest at the Akebontei. The aftermath sparked a series of hostile situations between the Tosa and Aizu domain.

Arinosuke Mounai

A member of the Guardians of the Imperial Tomb. He moved to the capital with Itou. He was originally a member of the Shinsengumi before joining the Guard.

Awanokami Katsu

A key figure in the Tokugawa shogunate's last days, he was commander of the army and later of the entire military.
