Maekawa

A samurai family who owned the estate adjacent to the Yagi family. They also allowed the Shinsengumi to house troops on their estate.


Maekawa Residence

It was located right beside the Yagi residence, and it was the first ever headquarters used by the Shinsengumi.


Masamune Date

A general during the Warring States period. He was sometimes called the One-Eyed Dragon, as he had lost an eye, and was a remarkable tactician.


Matsumae Pass

One of the paths that connects Otobe and Hakodate. Keisuke Otori commanded troops tasked with defending this location.

Ascended to the throne in 1867 after the death of Emperor Komei.


Mibu

A settlement west of Kyoto. It was compromised of homes, famrhouses and a single temple.


Mimawarigumi

A civillian police force similar to the Shinsengumi, the Minawarigumi was instead composed of the sons of shogunate vassals, and was therefore somewhat higher-ranking. They were charged with protecting the imperial estate and the Nijo Castle area in Kyoto.


Mito Domain

One of the Three Houses of the Tokugawa. The domain and their daimyo have had strong nationalist tendencies for generations.


Mitsu

Souji Okita's older sister.


Miyako Bay

A costal city that opens to the Pacific Ocean.
