Geigi

A woman who works with clientele for private entertainment services. She uses cultural dances or plays musical instruments for her customers. Also known as a geisha or geiko.

Geishu

Refers to the Hiroshima Domain, who allied with the Choshu and Satsuma domains and joined the Imperial Amry.

Geishu Domain

A domain that spilts the Aki and Bingo Provinces. It also shares land with the Hiroshima Domain.

Gensui Kusaka

A Choshu warrior who acted as the central figure of the Imperial Nationalist party. He committed suicide during the Hamaguri Rebellion.

Genzaburo Inoue

Captain of the Shinsengumi's 6th Division. A native of Edo, he studied swordplay with Kondou, Hijikata, and Okita. He is sometimes called "Gen" by his friends.

Gidou Haga

A ronin from the Matsumai Domain. He is from the same province as Nagakura, and studied the same school of swordplay as well.

Gion

One of the red-light districts in Kyoto.

Gion Festival

One of Kyoto's signature festivals. It is held in June.

Glover

An English merchant who specializes in arms dealings. He uses Nagasaki as his base.

Gokounomiya Shrine

A shrine of the northest of the Fushimi magistrate's office.

Gold Brocade Flag

The flag of the Imperial Amry.

Goryokaku

A star-shaped fortress built in Hakodate. It made use of European-style fortifications, and served as the chief fortress for the Republic of Ezo.

Guard/The Guard

Short for the Guardians of the Imperial Tomb, the organization formed by Itou when he broke from the Shinsengumi.

Guardian of the Shogun

A position created during the Bakumatsu Period to assist whoever held the office of shogun.

Guardians of the Imperial Tomb

An organization that guarded the Emperor's Tomb. It was formed by Kashitaro Itou after his departure from the Shinsengumi. The name also refers to the members of this organization.
