A small amry made up of Tokugawa vassals, led by Souma and Fujinuma. There were approximately 150 to 200 members.
Nijo Castle
A castle built by the Tokugawa shogunate to house the shogun while he was in Kyoto.
Nikko
Refers to the Nikko Tosho Shrine, where the remains of Ieyasu Tokugawa, whose divine name is Tosho Daigongen, are entombed.
Nishi Hongwanji
Another name for the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji temple in Kyoto. It allowed the Shinsengumi to make the temples their headquarters for a period of time.
Notice Board
A board to notify the public of established laws regarding specific people or affairs.
Notice Board Incident
The Shinsengumi arrested people responsible for removing the Sanjo Ohashi notice board put up by the government.
